Trailer and main art for Netflix series “Renai Battle Royale” starring Ai Mikami and Ryubi Miyase unveiled

■The setting is an elite high school where dating is prohibited

The trailer for the Netflix series “Renai Battle Royale,” starring Ai Mikami and Miyase Ryuya, which will be released worldwide on August 29th, has been released.

This is the first original school drama produced in Japan among Netflix series. It is based on a true story of a former female student who broke the school rule banning dating between boys and girls and was advised to voluntarily drop out, then sued the school corporation. The series conducted extensive research into Generation Z’s views on love and constructed an original story that reflects their opinions.

Set in an ultra-elite high school where a school rule is banned for boys and girls, the story depicts a battle for leaks between students, and an unprecedented battle royale between the students and the school authorities who impose the unreasonable rule.

The main character, Arisawa Yuichika, will be played by Ai Mikami, who has been receiving endless offers for roles in dramas and movies, including her appearance in the globally popular Netflix series “Yu Yu Hakusho” and her starring role in the movie “Immortal Lovers.” The role of Maki Ryogo, who gradually becomes attracted to Yuichika, will be played by Miyase Ryuya, who has appeared in many popular dramas and movies, including the movie “Lovesick Ellie” and the drama “Kururi: Who Fell in Love with Me?,” and made his major debut as an artist under the name Ryubi Miyase in April.

The newly released trailer does not portray the refreshing friendship and youth that is often depicted in school dramas, but rather a vivid portrayal of students who are hurt and struggle in a world where love is forbidden.

The story begins with the shocking words of the protagonist, Yuichika (Ai Mikami), “I wanted to get my future even if it meant trading someone else’s love for money…” and depicts the bizarre school where strict rules are imposed and any student who breaks the school rule prohibiting dating between boys and girls is immediately expelled. However, unable to suppress their urge to be attracted to each other, many start dating in secret. Meanwhile, someone appears who secretly films these situations and reports them, and a tense and breathless story unfolds.

Meanwhile, Yuichika, who needs money for her future, starts working as a “Love Keeper” to erase leaked evidence photos on the school bulletin board for 200,000 yen, but Maki (Miyase Ryuya) notices her presence and confronts her. And in order to maintain order at school, the students spy on each other in a “rabbit hunt,” which heats up the leak battle between the students, and the students’ precious things are trampled on.

In the second half of the video, the principal of Asuran Academy, where the story is set, Ikushima Yoko (Terajima Shinobu), who rules over the school with an aggressive attitude, asks the shocking question, “Have you had sexual intercourse?” The situation becomes more and more harsh, and the students are pushed further into a corner. Meanwhile, in this absurd world, the video also shows how the students resist and refuse to give in to adults in order to protect their own love. At the end of the video, there is a meaningful shot of Maki, soaked after being hit by heavy rain, trying to kiss Yuichika!

The main art, which was also released, shows the main characters, Ai Mikami and Ryubi Miyase, looking at each other with serious expressions while holding a smartphone in one hand, creating a somewhat uneasy atmosphere. Also pay attention to their complicated and intertwined relationships.

Beyond the sensational battle royale, this coming-of-age drama reveals the true nature of what love can bring, and is sure to move the hearts of not only those of the same generation, but people of all ages. Let’s look forward to the broadcast.
