Watanabe Shota and Nakamura Anne go on a trip to a hot spring just the two of them!? In the fourth episode of the drama “Aoshima-kun is mean,” the love story moves to a business trip destination

■As soon as the preview for episode 4 was aired, social media erupted with comments like, “Cat ears, hot springs, and yukata are amazing!”

The fourth episode of TV Asahi’s Oshidora Saturday drama “Aoshima-kun is mean,” starring Watanabe Shota (Snow Man) and Nakamura Anne, will be broadcast from 11pm on July 27th.

Based on the manga of the same name by Yoshii Yuu, this work is a romantic comedy that depicts the “love pact” that begins with a small lie between Aoshima Mizuki (Watanabe), a younger, fasting guy who has no interest in romance, and Katsuragi Yukino (Nakamura), a 35-year-old dried-fish girl who has given up on romance.

The number of views for the first catch-up stream broke the all-time record for the Oshidora slot (calculated by Video Research, period: July 7th to July 13th). Episodes 2 and 3 also ranked first on TVer’s overall ranking, and the cumulative number of views for episodes 1 to 3 exceeded 6.58 million (calculated by Video Research, period: July 7th to July 25th), making this summer’s hottest classic romantic comedy a success.

The third episode, which aired on July 20th and topped X Trends, also featured a heart-pounding scene right from the start. When Yukino was drunk and about to fall backwards, Aoshima jumped on top of her and gave her a “tipsy floor bang” and a kiss…or so you’d think, but he gave her a cheek squeeze instead. The episode then began with Aoshima’s meanness unleashed as he asked, “Did you think I was going to do something to you?” Social media was abuzz right from the get-go with comments like, “I yelled out loud!” and “My heart really pounded.”

Afterwards, when Yukino, who had been pushing herself too hard on her own, was about to collapse, Aoshima appeared out of nowhere, “#HeroineCatch” picked her up, rolled up his sleeves and helped her with the work. Many people had their hearts stolen by Aoshima, who can be seen as mean but is also reliable and kind, and is a full-on tsundere, with comments like “He appears when you’re in trouble…he’s like a prince!”, “He’s such a hero!”, and “Aoshima is our savior, you’re going to fall in love with him”.

And the climax is when Yukino, shocked by Aoshima’s excessive meanness, tells him that their “agreed relationship” is over, and Aoshima, finally realizing his own feelings, runs after her and gives her a back hug.

Aoshima-kun confessed with determination, “If we’re not pretending (to be dating), is it okay?” and “If I tell you that I like you, Yukino-san… will you really go out with me?” The last scene, which also became a hot topic with the hashtags “Trendy Dash” and “Serious on the Bridge”, caused viewers’ heart-pounding index to soar, with comments such as “I would cry if someone confessed to me like this,” “This drama shows me everything I want to see and want,” “I was showered with the best heart-pounding moments,” and “I was swept up in the waves of meanness and kindness and my heart rate rose in the last three minutes.”

It rose to the top of the trending topics with huge excitement, with comments such as “This classic romantic comedy is the best,” “It has a classic plot, but it’s so heart-pounding,” and “There are even more heart-pounding scenes to come…I hope my heart can hold out.”

■Tonight, Aoshima and Yukino’s love story moves to their business trip destination!
After the broadcast of the third episode, the preview video for the fourth episode, which caused a stir on social media with comments such as, “Cat ears, hot springs, and yukata are amazing!” and “I wonder what will happen to them in the future? Is my heart okay?”, was finally broadcast on July 27th. The setting for Yukino’s love story, who is confused by the approach of her younger fake boyfriend Aoshima & Takeshi, moves to her business trip destination.

Yukino is shaken when Aoshima confesses his feelings to her… Looking back at how she has been tossed around by love up until now, Yukino becomes hesitant and says, “I don’t want to cause any more trouble in my life,” but her best friend and colleague, Suzuki Takako (Kobayashi Ryoko), cuts her off.

Yukino is speechless when Takako tells her that she is only using the age difference between them as an excuse to run away… Having fully enjoyed a carefree life alone after breaking away from romance, Yukino is unable to muster the courage to once again embark on the emotional “battlefield of love,” but before she knows it, she finds herself thinking only about Aoshima…

Meanwhile, Yukino and other members of the general affairs department of Cat Beverage give up their days off to go to Yugawara for a promotional event for their new product, Blue Punch. Then, for some reason, Aoshima suddenly appears. Keep an eye out for the event where “cat-eared Aoshima-kun” plays an active role.

Furthermore, after the event, when Aoshima finds out that Yukino will be spending the night at a hot spring inn, he says, “Maybe we should stay together…” Yukino has been feeling awkward ever since the back hug, but this is her first time staying the night. Hot springs, inns, yukatas, drinking in the room… Episode 4 is full of premonitions that something is about to happen. Will their love finally progress…?
