Satomi Ishihara reveals Kazuya Kamenashi’s handsome features! Discussing the highlights of “Destiny” Episode 5

■“The people around me and the people I meet at other sites are simply enjoying the work, and it’s been a very luxurious time for me as well.” (Kazuya Kamenashi)

Starring Satomi Ishihara and Kazuya Kamenashi co-starring for the first time, the suspense x love story “Destiny” has been a hot topic of conversation, dominating the top spots on each distribution platform since its debut.

Part 1 will finally conclude with episode 5, which will be broadcast on May 7th.

Just before the big climax, Satomi Ishihara, who plays the main character’s prosecutor, Kanade Nishimura, and Kazuya Kamenashi, who plays his girlfriend from college, Maki Nogi, all attend an interview. In response to the fact that it ranked first in the number of first-time missed broadcasts, he said, “In this day and age, we have an environment where you can watch it no matter where you are, so people can choose to watch it in their spare time.” I’m grateful and it feels like a reward.” (Ishihara) “The people around me and the people I meet at other sites are simply enjoying the work, and it’s a great luxury for me as well.” “I’m spending time with them,” Kamenashi said, feeling happy.

In addition, he generously showed off his “love for Destiny” while looking back on episodes from filming and the scenes where the cast and staff worked together to create each scene.

■”What is this kindness? (lol)” Ishihara reveals unknown stories about Kamenashi’s handsomeness!
When asked about Kamenashi’s “handsome point,” Ishihara said, “Due to my circumstances, I once had to postpone a certain scene, but Kamenashi-san said, “We’ll shoot that scene later.” He said, “I’m glad you wanted me to do that,” and said, “What kindness is this? (laughs)” Kamenashi-san is so considerate and wonderful that the word ‘handsome’ feels light. I am grateful,” he said.

On the other hand, when asked about Ishihara’s “cute points,” Kamenashi immediately answered, “‘Cuteness’ is already ‘everyday’!”

“On set, I was acting as Maki, and Kanade’s cuteness had the persuasive power of “I’m sure you’ll fall in love with me”.When I returned to my “Kamenashi sense” and looked at the monitor, I thought, “That’s amazing after all.” He said, “I wish I could have left around 20% of Kamenashi alone during the test, instead of ‘as Maki’ (lol).” There was a lot of laughter.

■Part 1 finally concludes with episode 5
Finally, on May 7th, episode 5, the final part of Part 1, will be broadcast. The past relationship between Kanade’s father, Tsuji Eisuke (Sasaki Kuranosuke) and Maki’s father, Nogi Koichiro (Nakamura Toru), is revealed.

Kanade and Maki learn the truth behind Eisuke’s death 20 years ago. What is the shocking “truth” that these two will arrive at?

Regarding the fifth episode, where the story is about to reach its climax, Ishihara said, “You will find out the truth of a certain part of the incident. The first part is complete, so after knowing the truth, I wonder what will happen in the second half.” It’s going to be an even more exciting episode, so I hope you’ll watch it.” While talking about the highlights, he also said, “There’s also a scary scene where Maki, Takashi, and Kanade are together (lol).”

On the other hand, Kamenashi also said, “It’s the conclusion of the first part, and it’s also the starting point for another major flow toward the final episode. If you watch it carefully, you’ll be able to enjoy the work more deeply.” I think so,” he commented emphatically. She talked about the highlights, hinting at new developments that will take place in the second half.

■Satomi Ishihara comment
How do you feel when you hear that it is “No. 1 in April 2024 in number of first-time missed broadcasts”?
I’m glad! In the past, I think the number that people watched was the “viewership rating,” but in today’s world, people can watch it from anywhere, which is why people want to watch it in their spare time. I’m grateful that you think about it and choose it, and although numbers aren’t everything, I feel like it’s like a reward.

Also, it’s difficult to follow serial dramas in real time while raising children. 9pm is also a busy time… However, all my friends who have never had any reaction to my work are now watching it. If you want to watch it, you can watch it on stream…I’m really happy that people are taking action like that.

What moved you or what did you discover when you saw the completed work?
I didn’t look at the monitor during filming. That’s why when I watched the broadcast, I was so surprised, thinking things like “They shot it from this angle” and “This is such a beautiful image.” Especially the great nature that can only be found in Nagano, especially in the college scene! I thought there was a drone flying, but I didn’t know what kind of image it was, so I was moved and thought, “It was so beautiful!”

The scenery I was actually seeing with my own eyes was so beautiful that I thought, “It would be great if it appeared in the work as it is.” That was clearly conveyed.

I thought the visuals were very beautiful, and the precision of the art and camera was amazing.

Have you ever had a discussion to feel like a university student?
The drive scene from my college days was the key to keeping the memories of having a sparkling time that was “the most fun of my life” in all nine episodes.

I kept looking back at the photos I took of the five of us at that time until the shooting was over, so I think that crank-in was a huge success. Maki hasn’t changed since then, as if time has stopped.

Even after 12 years, I’m still the same Maki I was then. Kanade must have changed since then, but when I meet him, I remember… If you think about it that way, Maki 12 years ago is the most important thing, and the time I spent there is the most important thing. Whether or not you can actually remember it depends on your own experience, so it was a really good start. In that sense, the first episode is quite important, so I would like you to review it.

What was your most memorable experience on set?
“How does Maki know Kanade’s address? Isn’t that scary!?” I once asked Kamenashi-san at the scene (lol).

Then, I received a reply saying, “This is the setting I heard from Yuuki,” and Kamenashi-san read the script back to me to confirm! Isn’t it kind of you to go that far in answering my question? (lol)

I think there were a lot of interactions like this in the scenes between the two of them. Also, although the script is carefully written, different people interpret it differently. That’s why there’s not only the cast, but also the director, assistant director, props team, make-up and stylist team, and many other people (lol).

Everyone said, “I think this is how my Kanade feels” (lol), and it felt like we were all creating a character.

Please tell us Kamenashi-san’s “handsome point”
I think kindness and consideration are the key points for being handsome.

Actually, there was a time when I had to postpone a scene due to my circumstances, but Mr. Kamenashi said, “I wanted to shoot that scene later, so that’s good.” …What, this kindness! (lol) Even though I was sorry for the situation, you actually said “thank you”! The word “handsome” feels so light. Mr. Kamenashi is a wonderful person who has many of these things.

Please tell us the highlights of episode 5, which is the final part of Part 1.
There is a scene where Maki, Takashi, and Kanade are together. I’m so scared though (lol). I can’t go into details, but I would like to tell you that such a scene exists! In episode 5, we will find out the truth about certain parts of the incident. The first part is complete, so now that we know the truth, we’re starting to wonder what will happen in the second half… so please check it out.

■Kazuya Kamenashi comment
How do you feel when you hear that it is “No. 1 in April 2024 in number of first-time missed broadcasts”?
Of course you can enjoy it on air, but it’s also great that people around you can enjoy it while it’s still fresh, and that it will continue to be available in a format that people can watch at any time they want. I’m glad.

The people around me and the people I meet at other sites are simply enjoying the work, and I feel that it’s a very luxurious time for me as well.

Of the impressions and reactions you received, which ones made you particularly happy?
I’m happy to hear simple comments like “It was interesting” and “I’m interested in what happens next”, and I also appreciate it when I receive reactions like “Maki-san, what’s going on?”

Mr. Akahoshi (Norihiro), who I meet on “Going! Sports & News” (Nippon Television), is really into it, and before every performance he says, “Kamenashi-kun! Destiny…” “No,” I replied (laughs).

Next time, I’m sure the people around me will say things like, “Is (Maki) sick!?” and “Go to the hospital!” (lol).

What moved you or what did you discover when you saw the completed work?
Unbeknownst to us, Yamoto (Yuma)-kun, Takahata (Junko)-san, and Ando (Masanobu)-san were expressed in a very suspicious manner! (lol)

Also, of course I knew about it because I had read it in the script, but when Tetta (Sugimoto) appeared, I thought, “Wow, Tetta-san!” (laughs). There are quite a lot of scenes that I didn’t participate in, so I was able to enjoy seeing the scenes that I only understood from the script.

What was your most memorable experience on set?
Pretty much every scene we created, we were talking about, “Should we do this?”

I think this work was created through the accumulation of that kind of time. When we have doubts about something in the script (such as why Maki knows Kanade’s address), we all discuss things and ask questions. I even read the script again, thinking that I shouldn’t give the wrong answer when I was asked a question (lol).

That kind of thing gave me an opportunity to dig deeper into the character, and I think it was a scene where I was able to do a lot of things right up to the last minute. For example, in the scene in episode 4 where we said, “Let’s walk a little bit more,” I feel like we were able to work together to create the scene, including the interpretation of how long we walked, and where did the two of us go? .

Please tell us your “cute points” about Ishihara-san.
“Cute” is already “everyday”! It makes sense that he has been active on the front lines for many years. His way of being in the field, the amount of passion he puts into his work, and his splendor are very pleasant, and it’s amazing to see how he directs his energy and how quickly it is needed in an instant. That’s what I thought.

I would like to emulate the way he carries his emotions as an actor. On set, I was acting as Maki, but when I returned to my Kamenashi sense and looked at the monitor, I thought, “This is really amazing.”

Of course, Ishihara-san is cute from a male perspective, but she is also admired by women as being extremely cute. That felt very convincing. As Maki, I was able to convince him, “You’re going to like Kanade,” which was helpful. I think it would have been better if I had kept Kamenashi at least 20% of the character for the test, rather than just “as Maki” (lol).

Please tell us the highlights of episode 5, which is the final part of Part 1.
It is the conclusion of the first part, and it is also the starting point where one or two new major trends will be born towards the final episode. I believe that if you take your time to look at it carefully, you will be able to enjoy the work more deeply.
