■ “It’s a music video that matches THE BEAT GARDEN’s warm, powerful, yet polite singing voice.” (Hiyori Sakurada)
THE BEAT GARDEN has released the music video for “Watashi,” the theme song for the Kansai TV/Fuji TV drama “Anoko no Kodomo.”
The MV features Hiyori Sakurada, who also stars in the drama, as a high school student. It was revealed that the female voice in the teaser video released prior to the MV was actually Hiyori Sakurada.
The story is about the protagonist, played by Hiyori Sakurada, who is unable to be honest with her friends, but opens up to them through the lyrics of “Watashi”. The straightforward words “I’m glad I continued being me” are woven into the heartwarming video that will touch the hearts of those who listen to it.
The director is YASU FUJINAMI, who has worked on music videos such as “Present” and “Like Falling in Love for the First Time.”
Be sure to check out the story of the theme song “Watashi,” which is different from the drama.
■U (THE BEAT GARDEN) Comment
On the day, when I saw Hiyori Sakurada on the monitor, I felt that there are people whose every facial expression and every movement becomes a drama. I was also touched by the cast members who played the student roles, who were sweating and giving their all even when the focus was off, and I felt that this song should be played in that very place.
We are grateful to everyone who has helped develop our songs to be more like “us” than we are.
Please take a look.■ Comment from Hiyori Sakurada
This music video allowed me to experience the youth that can only be experienced as a student. It is a music video that closely matches THE BEAT GARDEN’s warm, powerful yet polite singing voice. Please take a look.
