Yuzu has released the music video for their new song “Fusen Tokushu” on their official YouTube channel. It has been revealed that comedian Yuriyan Retriever will be appearing as the main character at the core of the story.

In the music video, Yuriyan plays a colorful, bubbly girl who one day suddenly falls in love with a sushi chef. In order to get even a little closer to her dream sushi chef, she receives encouragement from her family and continues to hone herself, eventually becoming an apprentice to the sushi chef. Her lively, expressive gestures and comical tempo add a new color to the world of the song.

The role of the sushi chef is played by Tetsuya Kusakabe, also known as the “crazy sushi chef,” who is a real sushi chef and has attracted attention on TikTok and Instagram for his creative nigiri sushi performances.

The two members of Yuzu watch over Yuriyan from afar with their songs, and at the end, they visit the sushi restaurant where Yuriyan works, bringing the story to a happy ending. The entire cast performs a dance that uses impressive hand gestures to recover the plot, supervised by the dance company “ELEVENPLAY” led by choreographer MIKIKO.

This music video was directed by video director ZUMI, and expresses the song in a pop worldview that incorporates not only live action parts but also animation and CG. In the singing scenes of Yuzu, homages to the music video of their representative song “Natsuiro” are scattered throughout.

The reason why Yuriyan appeared in the music video this time was because of the song “Chururi” that Yuzu released digitally in May. The song has the lyrics “The retriever is Yurian today too”, and when the song was released, Yuriyan responded to the lyrics on social media, which sparked an exchange of messages between the two.

At the same time, as Yuzu was working on “Foreshadowing Collection,” they came up with the idea of doing a “foreshadowing collection” that went beyond the song, and the Yuzu team sent a love call to Yuriyan, asking her to appear in their next music video.

The new song “Fusen Tsuushin” is a pre-release from Yuzu’s new album “Zukan,” their first in two years, which will be released on July 31st. The song was written and composed by Kitagawa Yuujin, and arranged by bassist Sudo Yu, who is also a member of XIIX.

The song features a light guitar sound and catchy melody, and is also used as the theme song for the currently airing TV Asahi drama “Minami-kun ga Koibito!?” (every Tuesday from 9pm).
