NEWS issues challenge to Chidori and Kamaitachi! Showdown in "If we were salarymen, who would be the most successful?"

The August 3rd broadcast of Nippon Television’s “Chidori Kamaitachi Hour” featured the popular series “If you were a salaryman, who would be the most successful?” This time, the three members of NEWS will be challenging Chidori (Daigo, Nobu) and Kamaitachi (Kenji Yamauchi, Ryuichi Hamaie).

When Nobu pointed out, “Aren’t idols further away from (salarymen) than comedians?”, Keiichiro Koyama refuted, explaining his position in the NEWS agency, “I’m in a position similar to middle management.”

Regarding his relationship with his seniors, Masuda Takahisa said, “Before my debut, I was always doing backup for Arashi. It felt like I was following in their footsteps.” Koyama revealed that his juniors often come to him for advice about variety shows. He humbly replied, “I don’t have that kind of skill,” but Masuda teased him, saying, “Don’t lie.”

The first showdown was between Hamaya and Shigeaki Kato on the “Stage to Encourage a Subordinate Who is Thinking About Quitting His Job.” When asked by Nobu, “Are you loved by your seniors? Or do you love your juniors?”, Kato immediately replied, “Neither.”

Hamaya, who went first, was in a state of confusion after being pressured by Chidori and Yamauchi as a comedian, while Kato, who is also active as a novelist, gave a series of wonderful words of encouragement, such as “I loved seeing you trying your best,” and “I think you still have the talent to grow.” Furthermore, Masuda stood up and applauded the famous line that came out at the end.

Next, Yamauchi and Koyama performed “Apology Stage to Your Boss When You Make a Mistake,” in which Yamauchi said, “I’ve never apologized for anything up until now.” On the other hand, Koyama showed confidence in his apology, saying, “I’ve seriously kowtowed at the office before.”

However, in the showdown, both Koyama and Yamauchi get into a big fight, and the showdown becomes extremely chaotic. What will be the shocking way the two apologize? Koyama also reflected, “I’ve come to understand better how difficult it is for office workers,” and added, “People seem to think that (office workers) are the most capable. I hope I can disappoint them.”
