Non has been chosen to star in the live-action drama adaptation of “Happy Kanako’s Killer Life.”

DMM TV has decided to adapt Toshiya Wakabayashi’s 4-panel manga “Happy Kanako’s Killer Life” (Seikaisha COMICS) into a live-action drama starring Non. It will be distributed exclusively this winter.

“Happy Kanako’s Life as an Assassin”, which has been decided to be made into a live-action drama, is about Kanako Nishino, who quit her job at a black company because she couldn’t stand the power harassment from her boss, but is charmed by the good treatment and joins an assassin’s company.

It’s a comedy about Kanako, who is hesitant about killing people but develops her hidden talent and grows into a skilled killer. Readers have commented, “I was energized by Kanako’s recovery of her self-esteem,” and “I’m dealing with daily frustrations.” It’s a popular work that has gotten a lot of buzz, with comments such as “Free me from rations!” and “A heartwarming hitman manga.”

Kanako’s targets are not yakuza bosses or huge criminal organizations, but the “irrational” that exists all around us.

Kanako, who has had many unreasonable experiences as an office worker at a black company, stands by her clients and kills power-harassed bosses, malicious complainers, and mother-in-laws who are bullying their wives.The sight of her is a true example that resonates with people living in modern times. I love comedy works and have taken the initiative to appear in such works, but this is my first time participating in a cynical comedy like this one. I feel that this is a new challenge for me.
It was a tough shoot, going back and forth between comedy and serious action, but I’m happy because I love both genres. I’m nervous in my heart, thinking that it’s quite a difficult task because the job of an assassin is expressed in a funny way. I will not forget the thrill I felt when I received this offer, and I will do my best to convey the entertainment value and theme of the work to the viewers, and to have them enjoy it to the fullest.

What did you think after reading the script?
I found it very interesting and exciting to see how they expanded the action scenes while taking advantage of Toshiya Wakabayashi’s original work’s gag elements, conflicts in work, and themes.
An interesting setting is that the hitman he meets after quitting a company with a power-harassing boss works for a white company. Is it possible to express the black humor based on Wakabayashi-sensei’s pop worldview beyond the vividness of live action? Will I be able to do it in a way that conveys the fun of it? This work is full of fun and refreshing scenes, but the character I play, Kanako, faces various problems and struggles with her work, daily life, and her way of being. Still, I am encouraged and energized by the way he finds purpose in his work as a hitman and continues to push forward. It’s a little strange feeling.
What does it mean to live for yourself or for others? I would like to portray Kanako’s life as a killer, where she is forced to live, as exhilaratingly as possible.

It was a very interesting black comedy worldview that used a lot of CG.

I play the role of a killer named Sakurai.
It seems difficult that most of the lines I have to express are “I’m going to kill you”, but I hope to be able to rely on the director and create a structure that will allow me to properly express the subtleties.

The story is set in an unusual setting in which an office lady, tired of working at a black company, moves to a white company, only to find out that she is a killer there. Despite such an unlikely setting, the original manga has captured the hearts of many readers because of the reality that people living in modern society work and live with their own frustrations with their companies and living environments. So, in this work, I would like to express to people who are forced to endure such hardships, or people who are having a hard time living because they don’t fit in with society, that they feel refreshed! and that it’s okay to be who you are! This is a work that we decided to make into a live-action film because we wanted people to feel that catharsis.
From the beginning of the project, I knew that the only person who could play the role of Kanako, the pure and natural main character who unintentionally develops her talent as a sniper, was Non, who has proven ability as one of Japan’s leading comediennes. I was there. In addition, Sakurai, a senior assassin who needs to express coolness and kindness with few facial expressions and lines, is a role that only Fujigaya, who can convey a lot of emotion with his gaze, can play, and this work was created by the two of them. I made an offer because I thought it would not be complete without him.
