Sakurazaka46 has decided to hold auditions for new members for the first time in about two years.
The audition catchphrase was “You will bloom.”
In the audition teaser video released, Yamazaki Ten (the official spelling of 崎 is tatsusaki) recites a passage from Miyazawa Kenji’s “Ame ni mo makezu” along with the group’s catchphrase, expressing Sakurazaka46’s defiant, forward-moving attitude.
In the previous audition held in 2022, 11 third-generation members were selected, and the documentary “We are Sakurazaka46’s third-generation members” was released on YouTube, which became a hot topic. Since then, the third-generation members have grown into central members of the group, such as taking the center position in single songs.
Sakurazaka46 will be expanding their activities overseas, including appearing at events in France, Malaysia, and the Philippines in 2023. As part of this, auditions for new members will be held, and there are high expectations for the new members.
Hinatazaka46 has also announced that it will hold auditions and recruit for new members during the same period, but since the audition schedules are different, it is possible for multiple members to apply at the same time.
