Hey! Say! JUMP’s Yuya Takaki to appear in modern horror drama “Fear”! Stills and trailer unveiled

■The drama’s opening theme will be performed by Haku, and the ending theme will be performed by Hey! Say! JUMP! Yuya Takaki and others will also be appearing on stage to greet the audience.

It has been decided that Yuya Takaki (the official spelling of “Taka” is “Hashigodaka”) will appear in the CBC TV drama “Kore” which will be broadcast from 24:58 on August 15th. Stills and a preview video have been released.

This work is based on the highly acclaimed manga series “Fear – Reiwa Kaidan” by Kawakami Juoku (Cycomi/Cygames) which is currently being serialized on the smartphone and PC manga service “Cycomi”, and is a modern horror drama that depicts themes symbolizing the Reiwa era, such as sugar daddy relationships, AI, and ASMR.

Yuya Takaki plays Yamakazu, a mysterious, aggressive streamer who chases the main character, Mayu Mizoguchi (Riko). Yamakazu holds the key to the drama. This is Takaki’s first horror work, and his first appearance in a terrestrial drama in two years.

While active as a member of Hey! Say! JUMP, Takagi made his first appearance in a TV series in “Gokusen,” and in recent years has also focused on stage productions such as “Let’s Go Out on a Starry Night” and “Tokyo Rondo,” expanding the scope of his activities with a number of popular productions, so keep an eye on his acting.

The opening song “disbelief” is written by Haku, an up-and-coming singer-songwriter whose song “Kyou” was used in the popular anime “Kingdom” in his first year of activity. The stylish and dramatic development of the song, which depicts the dark side of social media, highlights the worldview of the drama.

The ending song will be “NERD,” a new song by Hey! Say! JUMP, the band to which Yuya Takaki belongs. It’s a banger tune with a refreshing, light beat and impressive digital sound.

In addition, a special screening event for the drama “Fear” has been urgently decided to be held on August 24. On the day of the event, episodes 3 and 4 will be screened in advance before they are broadcast on terrestrial television, and you can watch a one-day-only special edition with audio and video remastered for the theater.

Aeon Cinema Wonder will also have a stage greeting by the lead actress Riko, who plays Mayu Mizoguchi, and Yuya Takaki, who plays Yamakazu. Tickets will go on sale from August 11th on the Aeon Cinema online ticket sales service “e-seat reserve”. For more details, please check the program website.

■ Story
Are we scared because we are human, or are we human because we are scared?

Hinata Tanabe, a part-time worker, is pursued by a man she met on a dating app. Terrified, Hinata runs away, but is caught and killed by the man. But the next moment, she becomes a different person, Ayumi Saito. Not knowing what has happened, she lives as Ayumi, but gets into trouble at a cosplayer photoshoot and loses her life again in the midst of fear… Then, once again, Ayumi becomes a different person, an office worker named Kanae Shindo, and is assailed by a new fear.

Why do people become different people every time they die? Kanae is at a loss as the mystery deepens. Meanwhile, Yamakazu (Yuya Takaki), a surprise streamer, discovers that a mysterious woman, Mayu Mizoguchi (Riko), is involved in various murder cases that occur in the city. What is Mayu’s true identity? The key to solving all the mysteries lies in the popular VTuber Yuksul!

■ Comment from Yuya Takaki
I play the role of a surprise streamer. I thought about a lot of things while I was acting, so I hope you’ll pay attention to how Yamakazu changes towards the second half of the drama.
It was my first time working on a horror film, so it was a good experience for me. The film itself brings out the subtle, scary aspects of human nature, so I hope the viewer can experience that raw, realistic horror.
I hope that viewers will watch the film while thinking about how Yamakazu will change and what will happen next.
