Korean-Japanese boy band KJRGL to debut

■Six people have gathered, including those with audition experience in “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN,” “TORA PROJECT,” and “BOYS PLANET”!

Japanese-Korean boy band KJRGL has announced that they will be debuting in the fall of 2024.

Each member of KJRGL has auditioned, and after a tough training period, the six of them have finally made their dreams come true.

Kouki Sakamoto (KOUKI) participated in “PRODUCE 101 JAPAN SEASON 2” and made it to the final round.
Akira Kawaguchi (AKIRA) is a member of the first batch of SME’s global artist discovery and development “TORA PROJECT”.
Machida Riku (RIKU) and Jeon Hojin (DIEN) participated in “BOYS PLANET” (which featured ZEROBASEONE), which was aired on Mnet in Korea.
Lee Saeron was honed in an environment surrounded by musical arts.
John Isaac (ISAAC) went through a rigorous training period.

After going through difficult times, they are once again able to deliver their songs, and a new chapter will be written in their growth, titled “The story of how we regained our voices.”

KJRGL, which has three Japanese and three Korean members (including one with American nationality), is also a joint project between SME JAPAN and SME KOREA, and represents the embodiment of opening new doors between Japan and Korea.

What is the meaning and hope behind the group name KJRGL?

The whales, who sing songs (sound waves) in the ocean to communicate with their friends, have become lonely creatures whose songs cannot reach others due to the influence of sonar (ultrasound waves) from nuclear submarines and fishing boats. The group name KJRGL was decided on as a combination of the Japanese word “kujira” (whale) and the Korean word “golae” (golae) to embody the story of regaining one’s voice, friends, and oneself.

It also contains the wish “Kind (of) Just Right Good Luck.”

KJRGL will release their pre-debut single “prologue ~ the deepest blue” on September 4th, which starts from the deepest blue of the ocean floor, and will surface on the 18th of the same month with their debut single “overture ~ the blue wave”. Through the release of the underwater trilogy, KJRGL POP will deliver “magic songs for you and us to regain our voices”.
