IMP.’s new song has been chosen as the theme song for X Games CHIBA 2024! “Four members of IMP. were raised in Chiba, so we are very honored.”

■IMP. will be performing the tournament theme song “BAM-BOO” live for the first time at the venue, Makuhari Messe!

It has been announced that the entire X Games CHIBA 2024, an international competition for action sports including skateboarding and BMX, where the winner is crowned world number one, will be broadcast live on Nippon Television (terrestrial), BS Nippon Television, CS Nippon Television NEWS24, and Hulu from September 20th to 22nd.

It has been decided that the theme song for this tournament will be “BAM-BOO” by IMP. This will be the first time that IMP. will be in charge of the theme song for a tournament or program.

IMP.’s new song “BAM-BOO” was written by a production team fascinated by street culture such as hip hop and dance, based on the theme “IMP.’s biggest dance number!”

The song’s creation began with combining the characteristics of bamboo, each stalk independent but connected at the root, with the bonds and feelings of teammates who trust each other deep in their hearts. It matches the unique characteristics of action sports, where skateboarders and BMX athletes respect their rivals as friends, making it a fitting song for the X Games tournament theme song.

IMP. will hold a live concert at the venue, Makuhari Messe, on the second day of the tournament, September 21, and will perform the tournament theme song “BAM-BOO” live for the first time. They are also scheduled to appear on terrestrial TV broadcasting on the same day.

■IMP. Comments
◇ Thoughts and enthusiasm on being chosen as the tournament theme song.
■ Arata Sato
From the moment I heard the new song “BAM-BOO,” I knew it would be “IMP.’s biggest dance number,” and the lyrics are perfect for the X Games. I’m honored and happy to be involved with the X Games with a song like this. I’m also really looking forward to performing it live at the venue, Makuhari Messe. I’ll do my best to perform so that I can show my support for the athletes.

■Yuki Yokohara
“BAM-BOO” has a sense of speed, exhilaration, and some exciting parts that hit you right in the feels, so I think it’s a song that really links to action sports. I hope that this theme song will add an even more exciting experience to everyone looking forward to the X Games.

◇What do you want to convey to fans and players through this song?
■ Moto Shunsuke
We have a lot of feelings for the song “BAM-BOO,” and we want to put our passion into the song and our performance. And I think that the athletes who are heading to the competition have the same passion, so I would be happy if the song “BAM-BOO” could further heighten their passion for the competition, and I hope to enjoy the X Games together with all the fans.

◇The part of the tournament theme song “BAM-BOO” that fits perfectly with action sports
■ Takuya Kageyama
I think the song “BAM-BOO” itself fits well with action sports, but personally, I like the phrase “Let’s make a new start with the bamboo-spun achievements” that Motoi raps. This means making achievements that will go down in history, and I really wanted to work with the athletes to make the X Games and Japan more exciting.

◇About young players of the same generation being active on the world stage
■ Suzuki Taiga
I was inspired by seeing the athletes younger than us doing well at the Paris Olympics, and it gave us at IMP. the courage to do our best. There are four members of IMP. who grew up in Chiba, so it is a great honor for me to have the excitement of the Paris Olympics come to my hometown, Chiba.

■Matsui Kanade
People who work hard are simply cool. Just seeing them working hard and sweating makes me excited, and there are many things I respect about them, so when I see people my age and younger doing well on the world stage, I feel like we can’t lose to them. It gets me excited in a good way.

◇What to expect from the X Games
■Tsubaki Taiga
At the X Games, clothing and other fashion is more casual and free than at the Olympics, so I think it will attract more attention from young people not only as a competitive event but also as a street sport, and help increase the number of people taking part in the sport.
