Bakufu Slump's "Runner" filmed in one take at "TFT"! "Kawai-san says he made a mistake, but I got really excited singing it."

Bakufu Slump, who have reunited to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their major debut in 2024, made their first appearance on the 467th episode of the YouTube channel “THE FIRST TAKE” to perform their signature song “Runner” (premiering from 10pm on August 16th).

“Runner” is a national hit that has continued to be loved across generations and times, even more than 30 years after its release, and is still played as a cheer song at high school baseball games.

This will be Bakufu Slump’s first performance of this song in 14 years, and they will be performing it in one take, filled with the passionate emotion that can only be seen on “THE FIRST TAKE.”

We’re in a 40th anniversary slump, but we haven’t been active for 26 or 27 years out of those 40 years… We got together for the first time in a long time and made some music, and although Kawai says he made a mistake, we got really excited singing. I hope you can feel that passion.
■ Pappara Kawai
I was incredibly nervous the first time I appeared on NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen, but I was just as nervous this time and made a mistake on something I’d never made before, even though I was determined not to make any.
It was a truly regrettable “THE FIRST TAKE,” but I think there are probably hundreds of people who have done it up until now, and I think there are quite a few people who have regrets. This is a one-off, one-off thing. It will remain with me for the rest of my life, but I hope it won’t be played as much as possible.
