GENERATIONS, who serve as ambassadors for Japan Gymnastics, welcomed the Japanese national gymnastics team upon their return to Japan.
The exchange was born because Daiki Hashimoto often listens to the song “to the STAGE” by GENERATIONS before competitions, and GENERATIONS’ new song “Endless Journey” was chosen as the “Gymnastics Nippon Support Song” dedicated to all gymnasts in Japan. Nine members of the Gymnastics Nippon national team, both male and female, visited GENERATIONS, who delivered the song.
The day after their return to Japan, GENERATIONS greeted the visiting team with high-fives. Representing the men’s team, Hashimoto commented, “The men’s team won the gold medal in the team all-around, and Oka also won a medal in the individual all-around. It was really tough until halfway through, but we didn’t give up and kept going, and we were able to win medals. Thank you so much for all your support.”
Speaking on behalf of the women’s team, Ushioku reported the results of the Paris Olympics, saying, “All of the women’s team members are in their teens and this was their first Olympic appearance. We came in eighth place as a team, which meant we didn’t achieve our goal of winning a medal, but we were able to enjoy performing at our first Olympic Games and I think it was a good experience that will give us confidence for the future. Thank you for your support.”
Upon hearing this news, Katayose Ryota, who had also rushed to the qualifying venue to cheer on the team, said, “Thank you all so much for your hard work. We would like to send our humble support from Tokyo, and we were truly moved by your wonderful performances. We ourselves are truly honored to have been able to send this song, ‘Endless Journey’, as a cheering song to everyone at Nippon Gymnastics. We are grateful for this wonderful encounter,” and the members presented the team with bouquets and gifts.
Afterwards, the 15 members enjoyed chatting, and when asked about their memories of their first time in France, the women’s team member replied with a cute, teenager-like comment that “the French bread was delicious,” warming the hearts of the other members.
Meanwhile, the men’s team captain Kaya’s playful answer of “The five of us were always playing Smash Bros. in the athlete’s village” made everyone burst into laughter. When asked who was the strongest, Sugino replied, “In terms of potential, Oka is the strongest,” and Komori Hayato was surprised at this unexpected side of the medalist, saying, “Even he still has potential!”
The topic then turned to medals. Sugino handed the gold medal to the members, saying, “Please feel free to touch it,” and they were impressed, saying, “It’s heavier than I thought!” and “This is amazing!” It was a valuable experience for them.
At the end, GENERATIONS taught the nine athletes how to dance to “Endless Journey” and filmed a video for TikTok together. This video has been released on GENERATIONS’ official TikTok account, so be sure to check it out.
