YOASOBI has announced that they will be releasing a new song, “Monotone,” on CD on October 2nd.
This song is the theme song for the movie “Touch.” which will be released on October 4th. It is YOASOBI’s first theme song for an anime movie, and is based on the novel “Touch. No, Zenya.” written by Mari Okada, who also wrote the screenplay for the movie.
The “Monotone” CD is a picture book-style booklet with a motif of the book of legends about the mysterious creature “Fureru” that appears in the animated movie “Fureru.” The illustration for the jacket is an official drawing by the movie. The original novel of “Monotone” “Fureru no, Zenya” is also included.
Information on store-specific purchase benefits was also announced.
The new song “Monotone” is the theme song for the film “Touching.” The latest original feature-length animation from the three directors, Nagai Tatsuyuki, Okada Mari, and Tanaka Masayoshi, who have worked on the heart-stirring youth trilogy “Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day” (2011, 2013), “The Anthem of the Heart” (2015), and “Her Blue Sky” (2019). The main characters Aki, Ryo, and Yuta have been cast by Nagase Ren, Bando Ryuta, and Maeda Kentaro.

The song “Monotone” that I wrote this time was created while facing the “relationships between people” that I felt through the movie, and the loneliness and feelings of thinking about someone that I feel in my own life. The world is developing day by day, and because we are in an environment where it is easy to communicate with various tools, I feel that it is important to face the loneliness that we feel because of this, so I put that feeling into the song. I hope you will enjoy it along with the movie.
