The drama series “Mountain Doctor,” starring Yosuke Sugino, is broadcast on Kansai TV and Fuji TV every Monday from 10 p.m. A comment has arrived from Koji Mukai, who takes on his first role as a father in this series.
This is a mountain medical drama that depicts on a grand scale the growth of a young doctor who is thrown into the field of mountain medical care, as he comes into contact with patients and medical workers with various thoughts and feelings, and faces reality. In episode 7, Noriko (Sae Okazaki) manages to escape from her enraged mother Seiko (Shoko Ikezu) after her parents finally find out that she is an anesthesiologist. With pride as an anesthesiologist in her heart, she becomes convinced that the mountain medical team “MMT (Mountain Medical Team)” is where she belongs. Meanwhile, Emori (Nao Omori), who was initially against doctors going to the mountains, is inspired by Ayumu (Yosuke Sugino) and the others’ hard work and decides to join MMT. The morale of the members is shown to be rising.
In the eighth episode, which will be released on August 26th, Shingo (Mukai Koji), who is the one who supports MMT more than anyone else, continues from the fifth episode and shows his fatherly side in front of his son Keigo (Yuda Yuki), who lives with his ex-wife.
Mukai Koji, who plays the father who is close to his beloved son, commented on his role as a previously married man, “I’m at an age where I want to know what marriage is like, so even though I’m divorced, I’m going to try to experience marriage through the role!” Shingo also plays the role of a listener to Ayumi, Noriko, and Rei (Miyazawa Emma), who are members of MMT and regular customers at the bar, and sometimes encourages them when they are troubled. Mukai said that he had some doubts about how to speak at the beginning of filming. “Maybe because I’m set to be a divorced man with a child and the owner of a yakitori restaurant, he has a dandy way of speaking for a 29-year-old (laughs). To be honest, I was really unsure whether to play him that way. But I’m the type of person who wants to follow the script, so I decided to play a strong character at the yakitori restaurant and a natural character in the private scenes, while considering the balance,” he revealed about playing two different faces. Therefore, regarding the father-son scenes, he confidently said, “When I interact with Keigo as a father, my expression will be different from when I’m grilling yakitori.” Regarding his acting with Yuda Yuki, who plays the role of Keigo, he said with a bright expression, “Actually, I’d been looking at Yuki’s Instagram for a long time before we met, so it felt more like ‘It’s been a long time!’ rather than ‘Nice to meet you.’ He’s a cheerful kid, so we had a lively conversation from the beginning and I think I was able to act naturally.”
In episode 8, Mukai fully embodies the role of a loving father. However, because he loves his son, a certain incident leads to a fierce clash with his childhood friend Ayumu!? There is a scene that both Sugino and Mukai were looking forward to filming, so we can’t wait for the broadcast.
