Ryuhei Maruyama (SUPER EIGHT) stars in the film "Kanekosashi Iriyuten" set for release in 2025! "It's a film that makes you reexamine your life"

■Ryūhei Maruyama embodies a man with a past he cannot tell anyone about and who tries to start his life over for the sake of his son, with a convincing performance that sets him apart from Maruyama’s previous images!

It has been announced that the film “Kaneko Sashiiriten,” starring SUPER EIGHT member Maruyama Ryuhei, will be released in cinemas nationwide in 2025. Co-stars include Maki Yoko, Miura Kira, and Terao Akira. This is the directorial debut of Furukawa Go, who also wrote the original screenplay.

A “delivery shop” delivers parcels to people held in prisons and detention centers. Kaneko Shinji (Maruyama Ryuhei) runs a “delivery shop” with his family. One day, a horrific case occurs in which a girl who was a childhood friend of Kaneko’s son is murdered. The family is shocked by her death, but the perpetrator’s mother asks if she would like to deliver some parcels. As he confronts the perpetrator as a parcel shop owner, Kaneko’s doubts and anger grow with each passing day.

At that time, Kaneko meets a high school girl who visits the detention center almost every day. For some reason, she wants to meet the man who killed her mother. As he faces the mystery of the two cases, Kaneko’s past is revealed to those around him, shaking the ties of his family.

Ryuhei Maruyama plays a man who is trying to live life over for his son, carrying a secret from his past, and expresses his emotions with a performance that is different from his previous image. Maruyama said about this film, “It’s a valuable work that allows me to reflect on the life I’ve lived so far. I think that people will be able to find something important in it.”

Maki Yoko, with her solid acting ability, portrays Kaneko’s wife Miwako, who quietly sticks to her own beliefs without being swayed by the values of the world, with a gentleness that is both strong and strong at its core. The role of their son Kazuma is played by Miura Kira, one of the most notable child actors today, who appeared in the NHK historical drama “To You, Shining Light”, as the eldest son of Fujiwara no Michinaga. Kaneko’s uncle Hoshida, who lives with the three, is played by Terao Akira, a leading figure in the Japanese entertainment industry.

The character I played, Kaneko, is a straightforward man. Because of this, he also has a dangerous side that he cannot control. He has an enormous love for his family, and he is a man who is torn between his job as a delivery man and his family.
I met Director Furukawa many times before filming began, and we had many personal conversations about our upbringings and so on, so we got to know each other well. I think I was able to act honestly by absorbing the magma-like heat inside the director. The story delves deeper into the relationships with all the people who appear, so it was a valuable piece of work that allowed me to look back on the life I’ve lived up to that point.
In a word, it is a story about several families, but it is filled with feelings that are difficult to describe in a few words, such as love, anger, pain, and joy. If you come to see the film with the mindset of going on a treasure hunt, I believe you will find something important.

During the filming of the movie I participated in as an assistant director, I noticed a small food delivery store near a detention center. After researching, I came to understand the need for a food delivery service. I thought it might be a way to make a statement about the recent social trend of being intolerant of second chances, but I couldn’t write something that I was satisfied with, and time passed.
11 years. During that time, I got married, had a child, and the story changed along with my changing values. Through the mail shop and the people associated with it, I am asking questions such as what is family? What is blood? What is a family environment?
We created this film together with wonderful actors and lovely staff members, including Ryuhei Maruyama. We hope that as many people as possible will watch it.
