■ “The gunfire has fallen silent, the stars have aligned, and the long wait is over.” (Oasis)
British rock band Oasis ended years of feverish speculation on August 27th by confirming shows in the UK and Ireland that will kick off their long-awaited world tour, OASIS LIVE ’25. Oasis will play Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin in the summer of 2025.
Oasis, the band of the Gallagher brothers Noel and Liam, broke up when Noel left the band in August 2009. Since then, it was thought that a reunion would be impossible due to the discord between the two, but on August 26th, a video showing the words “27.08.24” (August 27, 2024) and “8am” was posted on the social media accounts of Oasis, Noel, and Liam, respectively.
This caused a lot of buzz as people wondered if this post meant Oasis was getting back together, and in Japan on X (the former Twitter), topics such as “Oasis reunion”, “oasis reunion”, and the related “sibling quarrel” were trending.
Then, at “27.08.24” “8am” (16:00 on August 27th Japan time), it was finally revealed that the long-awaited reunion was real.
The Oasis live experience is like no other – the cheers that greet you as you walk out on stage, the setlist packed with irrefutable classics, the spine-tingling feeling as the audience sings back to you word for word, and especially the charisma, brilliance and enthusiasm that can only be felt when Liam and Noel Gallagher are onstage together.
Since the band split in 2009, the brothers have each pursued their own independent projects, and together they’ve had ten UK number one albums, headlined countless festivals, and played stadiums and arenas.
Oasis are different, though. There was no great revelatory moment that prompted them to reunite, just a gradual realisation that the time was right. But the timing must be a subliminal influence: August 29th marks exactly 30 years since the release of their stunning debut album, Definitely Maybe, and in 2025, the same anniversary will be reached for their equally seminal second album, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?
Tickets for the UK show will go on sale at 9am on August 31st. Tickets for the Dublin show will go on sale at 8am on the same day. Plans are underway to hold “OASIS LIVE ’25” on continents other than Europe in the second half of 2025.
This week is a historic one for Oasis, for better or worse. 15 years ago, on August 28th, Oasis broke up when Noel left the band at the Rock En Seine Festival in Paris. The reunion was announced on August 27th, which coincidentally happened to be the day before. August 29th marks the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut album, Definitely Maybe. The following day, August 30th, a 30th anniversary edition will be released, featuring songs from the original recording sessions at Monnow Valley Studios that never happened, as well as many precious outtakes from the recording sessions for the final album at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall.
The year 2024 will mark the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut album, “Oasis (Definitely Maybe),” and their first performance in Japan.
To commemorate this, a spectacular exhibition entitled “Live Forever: Oasis 30th Anniversary Special Exhibition” will be held at the Roppongi Museum in Tokyo from November 1st, which will unravel the appeal of the “eternally timeless” music they left behind and their one-of-a-kind existence from multiple perspectives.
This exhibition, which comes 10 years after Oasis’ first exhibition in Japan, “CHASING THE SUN: OASIS 1993 -1997 What does Oasis mean to you?”, attracted 10,000 people in a short period of just four days in 2014. It will feature many valuable items that could not be introduced in the previous exhibition, such as their favorite instruments, handwritten scribbles of lyrics, and iconic original posters from the band’s early days. It will trace the cultural background of their hometown, Manchester, and explore how a rock and roll superstar that transcends generations was born.
The event will include a photo spot that recreates the album artwork, a space where you can experience their live performance, and more, allowing visitors to delve deeper into the appeal of this unique band, Oasis, along with their hit songs.

The gunfire quieted.
The stars aligned.
The long wait is over.
