Ryokuoushoku Shakai will be performing the theme song for the film “Six Lying College Students,” which will be released on November 22nd.
“Six Lying College Students” is based on the novel of the same name by Akinari Asakura, which was published in 2021 and has sold over 600,000 copies to date. This popular novel, which combines elements of “closed room suspense” in which the true nature of the six characters is skillfully revealed against the backdrop of a job hunt, and elements of “youth mystery” in which the truth behind the “lies” and “sins” of the six characters are revealed and the plot is resolved one after another at the climax, with overwhelming quality, has been made into a live-action film by director Yuichi Sato and screenwriter Koichi Yajima.
This is a superb mystery suspense story featuring six popular and talented actors, including Hamabe Minami as the main character Shima Iori, Akaso Eiji as Hatano Shogo, Sano Hayato as Kuga Sota, Yamashita Mizuki as Yashiro Tsubasa, Kura Yuki as Morikubo Kimihiko, and Nishigaki Takumi as Hakamada Ryo.
The theme song, “Baka no Hitotsumemo,” was written specifically for the film, with lyrics and music by Haruko Nagaya (Vo). The lyrics express the six characters who are driven into a corner after discovering a mysterious accusation at their final interview, not knowing “what is true and what is a lie,” and the impressive melody is full of mystery and suspense, creating a fast-paced feel that embodies the film’s mystery and suspense.
The latest trailer, which uses the phrase “A fool’s one-trick pony,” is now available on the Toho MOVIE channel on YouTube.

As a fan, I have listened to Ryokuoushoku Shakai’s songs and seen their live performances, and I have been touched many times by the straightforward messages in each of their works and the sincere performances of all the members. Ryokuoushoku Shakai has an image of being completely unrelated to “lies,” so I wondered, “If there was a song with the theme of lies, what kind of song would it be?” That’s what prompted the offer to write the theme song for this film. And the moment I heard the demo, I got goosebumps from the lyrics and melody, which are full of new charm and different from any of your previous songs, and at the same time, I felt that this theme song would fill in the last piece of the movie “Six Lying College Students” and complete it. It is a genuine “no lie” theme song that was written after all the members watched the original work and the movie. I wanted the song to have a sense of amusement, like a movie that makes you feel nervous or tossed around, so I made it with a focus on incorporating phrases and crisp tones. I was hooked when I saw it playing during the end credits! I really wanted people to listen to it at the movie theater.
