Linkin Park will release their first new song in seven years, “The Emptiness Machine,” on September 6th. They also released a music video directed by member Joe Hahn himself.
For this restart, the new Linkin Park, in addition to the original members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn, have welcomed Emily Armstrong, who was active in the band Dead Sara, as co-vocalist and Colin Brittain, known for writing and producing for artists such as G Flip, Illenium, and One OK Rock, as drummer. Following the new song “The Emptiness Machine,” the new album “FROM ZERO” will be released on November 15th.
Coinciding with the release of the new song, Linkin Park’s official website and YouTube channel began live streaming from 7:00am on September 6th Japan time. In addition to the new song “The Emptiness Machine,” live performances of 14 songs including the band’s signature songs such as “Numb,” “One Step Closer,” “In The End,” and “Faint” were streamed, helping to promote the band’s restart (the archived version is still available to watch).
In addition, in preparation for the release of their new album “FROM ZERO,” they will be embarking on an arena tour titled “FROM ZERO WORLD TOUR 2024” in six cities around the world: Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota, which has become a hot topic.
Although Linkin Park had been on hiatus since 2017, members Mike, Delson, Pharrell, and Hahn had begun reuniting in recent years. Rather than thinking of “restarting the band,” they simply spent more time together and increased the number of opportunities to reunite, motivated by a desire to regain the creativity and camaraderie that was at the core of their friendship since college. During this time, they invited various friends and colleagues to the studio, and felt a special affinity with Emily and Colin. As they spent more time in the studio, a natural chemistry was born, which led to their reunion, the birth of “FROM ZERO.”

Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title represents both our beginnings and our ongoing journey. Sonically and emotionally, this album is about the past, present and future. It was created with deep gratitude to band members, old and new, friends, family and fans. We are proud of the path Linkin Park has taken over the years and excited for the journey ahead. The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talent, togetherness and what we created. We feel truly empowered by the energy and vitality of the new music we made with the new members. We are weaving together touchpoints of our sound that we have been known for while still exploring new ones.
