back number releases special video for "New Lovers," a theme song for the drama "The Beginning of the Sea"

■The special movie will be produced by the drama’s producer, Murase Ken!

A special movie has been released featuring footage from the Fuji TV Monday 9pm drama “The Beginning of the Sea” and the drama’s theme song “To New Lovers” by back number.

The drama’s producer, Murase Ken, is himself producing the film, and the direction is by Tsushima Tenshin, who has worked on numerous video edits for TV commercials, web ads, and music videos.

The drama’s famous scenes and theme song resonate with each other. Let’s enjoy the song that touches the depths of our hearts while thinking about the path that Natsu, Umi, Yayoi, and Mizuki have walked so far.

“To New Lovers” was written by Shimizu Iyori, who is in charge of composing and writing the lyrics, after reading through the script up to episode 9, and having numerous discussions with the drama’s producer, Murase Ken, after sharing the drama’s theme and worldview.

When the theme song was announced, he said, “Each character in ‘The Sea’ brought out the true words that I always keep locked away, telling myself ‘I shouldn’t tell anyone,’ and this song is one that was written in the single color of ‘myself,’ so pure that it’s embarrassing, brought out by each character in ‘The Sea’.”

It was released on July 15th (Marine Day) and topped the Billboard JAPAN comprehensive song chart “JAPAN Hot 100” released on July 24th (collection period: July 15th to July 21st, 2024), as well as topping 55 weekly, daily and real-time charts. It will be released on September 11th as the 22nd CD single in about three years.

In addition, Meguro Ren (Snow Man), Shimizu Iyori (back number), and producer Murase Ken will appear on Fuji TV’s “Bokura no Jidai” on September 8th and 15th. They will hold a rare discussion that can only be seen here.
