New single and live album to be released at the same time

Douchin Yoshikuni has announced the release of his new song “BETWEEEN SLEEP AND AWAKE,” which he first performed at his birthday solo live in 2023.

This song came about after hearing a song by Osaka-based electro music artist speedometer. by chance while traveling in a car, and thinking, “I’d like to collaborate with an artist like this.”

After listening to the demo with tentative lyrics written by instrumental artist speedometer. (under the name Jun Takayama/the “taka” is officially spelled with a はしごだか), Douchin, who had originally planned to write the lyrics, decided to leave it all to him and focus on being a singer, so as not to destroy the worldview of the song. The finished product marked a new frontier for Douchin as a solo artist, foreseeing the start of Season 2, and fans on social media expressed their eagerness for the song to be released soon.

The B-side includes a cover of “HEAVENLY / ohana” from the Konica Minolta-sponsored planetarium live show “LIVE in the DARK,” which has become a staple since 2019. This is an unreleased arrangement featuring strings recorded by the Dochin Band, centered around Dr.kyOn, and arranged by Miyako Kira.

The engineer was Shojiro Watanabe (fabrik), and the two tracks feature cool track-making and organic performances.

Also included is a magnificently arranged live version of Yoshikuni Tonochin’s first solo song “She knows why?”, which was used as the encore for his birthday solo concert, as well as remixes of the previous two songs. Mori Toshiya, who worked on CHEMISTRY’s “BACK TOGHTHER AGAIN (West Indies Dream MIX)”, and Yamamoto Takashi on guitar are also featured in the remix of “HEAVENLY”. Speedometer. himself remixed “BETWEEEN SLEEP AND AWAKE”, bringing out the delicate nature of the song even more, and the density of the five songs in total is on par with that of a mini album.

The first limited edition comes with a Blu-ray of the Christmas concert “Now What Can Isee? ~Holy Garden~”, which was held for the first time in front of an audience at Yurakucho I’M A SHOW in 2023 (no streaming audio). You can enjoy a diverse selection of songs unique to Christmas Eve, performed by a band centered around Dr.kyOn (Shinya Kogure & Megumi Mashiro from HICKSVILLE, Junichi Sunayama, Asuka Yamashita) accompanied by strings (Mai Tanizaki, Moe Oura).

The jacket design was done by Nakamura Shiori (Super Squall Entertainment) and the photographer was Asakawa Hideo, creating artwork that matches the appeal of the song.

In addition, “Dochin Yoshikuni LIVE 2024 “Billboard LIVE” at OSAKA”, which contains the final performance of “Dochin Yoshikuni Billboard Live Tour 2024” held in April (the first solo performance in Osaka in 8 years), will be released simultaneously in CD + Blu-ray format. The selection of songs is made with the Billboard venue in mind, and Yoshihiro Ushiro, who is active on numerous stages, will participate in the sax, allowing you to fully enjoy the latest solo performance of Dochin Yoshikuni.

Upcoming activities include appearing at the Kobe performance of “Brand New Musical Concert 2024”. The next day, the CHEMISTRY Hall Tour 2024 “DIRECT” will start (total of 9 performances). In November, he will appear in a one-night special collaboration performance titled “Precious Dream Night ~Douchin Yoshikuni x Morisaki Win with LEN”. He will perform his annual birthday solo live “Douchin Yoshikuni LIVE 2024 “Now What Can I see? ” ~Drunk Garden~” for 2 days, and in December, he will perform an encore performance of “Douchin Yoshikuni LIVE in the DARK tour 2024 -AMANOGAWA-” (Fukuoka/Tokyo).
