Nogizaka46 5th Generation members appear in "Super Nogizaka Star Birth!" The show's largest-ever live event will be held at Yokohama Arena

■ “Since this is my third time, it feels like a culmination of my efforts, and I want to show how much I’ve grown.” (Nogizaka46 Inoue Kazu)

The fifth generation of Nogizaka46 members are taking on the challenge of covering famous songs from the Showa and Heisei eras on “Super Nogizaka Star Birth!” (currently airing on Nippon TV). Starting in spring 2024, the show will also feature the latest hit songs from the Reiwa era, and is gaining more and more attention. It has been decided that the show will hold a real-life concert on November 2nd and 3rd at Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa, making it the biggest concert in the show’s history.

This will be the third time that the 5th generation members will perform in the series, following “A New Nogizaka Star is Born! LIVE” (Yokohama Pia Arena MM, Kobe World Memorial Hall) in 2022 and “Super Nogizaka Star is Born! LIVE” (National Yoyogi Stadium First Gymnasium) in 2023.

■The members will produce their own songs and sing them solo for the first time in a live performance! Special guests are also scheduled to appear!
At this live performance, all 11 members will be performing solo songs that they have not performed on TV for the first time. Produced by the members themselves, they have selected songs that they are very attached to, memorable songs, and songs that allow them to perform to their full potential. This special performance that can only be seen here is a must-see.

In addition, they will be performing live covers of various hit songs that they have attempted on the show so far, with a different set list for all three shows. And this time, special guest artists will appear at each show, and collaborations with the 5th generation members will unfold (※Guests will be announced at a later date). The MC will be Oswald, who is a familiar face on the show. He will appear at all shows and liven up the live shows with the other members.

It’s not a given that we can hold “Nogizaka Star Tanjo! LIVE” again this year, and for the 5th generation members, Yokohama Arena is a memorable place where they held their first 5th generation live at Nogizaka46’s “11th YEAR BIRTHDAY LIVE”, so we are very happy to have this precious opportunity at a large venue. Last year’s LIVE was also a LIVE where we felt our growth, and we are looking forward to seeing how we have changed after another year has passed.
Q. How do you feel about performing a song you chose yourself live for the first time?
I love singing, so I got excited when I heard about it. I can prepare myself mentally to sing songs that I’ve performed on TV shows at LIVE, but performing new songs at LIVE is very nerve-wracking. In addition, there’s the sense of responsibility that comes with having chosen the song myself, so there are a lot of factors that make me nervous (laughs). I want everyone to feel the meaning of me singing the song as a work of art, with respect for the song, so this performance is going to be very special.
Q. What do you think is the appeal of “Nogizaka Star Tanjo! LIVE”?
Of course, we will be covering songs by other artists, not just Nogizaka46 songs, but we don’t often get the chance to focus on each of us singing, so I think it’s a very valuable opportunity. There is some tension, but I think it’s a LIVE where you can show your own originality and feel a lot of “our own atmosphere” that is different from the 5th generation live.
Q. Please tell us your enthusiasm for the live performance.
Personally, I think one of the strengths of us 5th generation members is our singing. Each of us has a strong singing personality, but I think we have a strong affinity when we all sing together, so I think this is a place where you can enjoy the charms of the 5th generation members to the fullest. Since this is our third time, it feels like a culmination, and I would like to show you how much we’ve grown. I would be happy if everyone who came felt happy, and I think the greatest success for us would be to be able to say, “It was fun!”, so I would like to give it my all as a 5th generation member.

Last year, I practiced right up until the day before, and we all ran through the “Shinzanmono LIVE at THEATER MILANO-Za” that we took on with just the 5th generation members, and we were saying, “Let’s do our best until Nogizaka Star Tanjo! LIVE!” But I got sick just before the show, and unfortunately I couldn’t appear. But when I watched the video on the live stream, all the members were doing poses and signals that I could understand, and I really felt happy to be able to work as a 5th generation member like this. I hope that not only the fans, but also the members will see how much I’ve grown in this “Nogizaka Star Tanjo! LIVE.”
Q. How do you feel about performing a song you chose yourself live for the first time?
When I heard about the project, I had a hard time thinking about what to sing. I chose some songs that I’ve always liked and that have memories for me. I haven’t decided which one yet, so I hope you’ll look forward to it. To be honest, I don’t even know what songs the other members have chosen, so I’m really looking forward to that too.
Q. What do you think is the appeal of “Nogizaka Star Tanjo! LIVE”?
I was able to gain confidence through “Nogizaka Star Tanjo!”, and by singing many songs, I was able to learn about various emotions. I also listened to the beautiful singing voices of the members and was moved more by singing with emotion. It’s rare to see them singing songs other than Nogizaka46 songs, so I think it’s a valuable place to discover the charms of the members.
Q. Please tell us your enthusiasm for the live performance.
I’m looking forward to this! All the 5th generation members have really unique personalities, and each one has a wonderful singing voice. You can hear those voices at “Nogizaka Star Tanjo! LIVE,” and they’re all getting better at singing, so I hope everyone will pay attention to them.
