New commercial for "chocolate ice cream" featuring Naniwa Danshi's Ryusei Onishi released

The new TV commercial “Ice Yanen 2” featuring Ryusei Onishi (Naniwa Danshi), who is the commercial character for Morinaga & Co.’s “Chocolate Ice Cream”, will be released on a special website from September 11th, prior to its TV broadcast. It will also begin airing nationwide from October 7th.

In the new TV commercial “Ice Cream 2,” Onishi uses her charming Kansai dialect to introduce the unique product features, which look like a chocolate bar but are actually ice cream. The filming took place while she was actually eating “chocolate ice cream bars,” and Onishi said, “I ate a lot. The ice cream was smooth and rich, and it was really delicious!”. As she herself said, “There were a lot of close-up shots (of my face), so I hope you’ll pay attention to (my facial expressions),” so pay attention to the sight of her enthusiastically stuffing her face with the chocolate-filled “chocolate ice cream bars.”

In addition, the special website for “Chocolate Bar Ice Cream” will reopen at 11:00 on September 11th. In addition to being able to watch the just-completed new commercial before it airs on TV, the website will also have a behind-the-scenes video of the filming of the new commercial, and information on a giveaway campaign in which 500 people can win an original 500 yen QUO card if they submit a receipt for the purchase of two or more “Chocolate Bar Ice Cream” or “White Chocolate Bar Ice Cream” between September 24th and December 20th.

■ Filming episodes

Q. Most of the lines in this commercial are the same as in the previous one. What should we pay attention to?
Onishi: When I saw the script, the lines were almost the same as the last time, so I wondered how it would be different. (However) this time, we shot in a more powerful room, and I changed the way I said the lines and the intonation a little. Also, we shot more scenes of me eating “chocolate ice cream” (than last time). There were quite a lot of close-ups (of my face), so I hope you’ll pay attention to my facial expressions.
Q. You ate a lot of chocolate ice cream during filming…
Onishi: I ate a lot! It was really delicious! It had a cut in it, so it was nice to be able to eat it with a snap, and the ice cream was smooth and rich. I eat “chocolate ice cream” in my private life, and since the last commercial was released, my friends have been sending me photos like “I bought a chocolate ice cream bar.” That makes me happy, and I want to eat it with my friends again.

Q. “Chocolate bar ice cream” is a crunchy ice cream that is packed with chocolate and can soothe your fatigue, but what do you think helps soothe your daily fatigue?
Onishi: I often watch videos on social media, and recently I’ve been watching videos of doggies and cats having a lot of mishaps. I love big dogs, and when their owners tell them they’re going to take a bath, they make a troubled face and run away, or when a cat slips and falls! After watching cute videos like that, I now only see cats and dogs (on social media). I also have a cat at home, and my family sends me videos and pictures of it about once every two days, so watching them helps me relax.
