The autumn/winter brand movie for “niko and …” starring Kitamura Takumi (DISH//) and Kiyohara Kaya will be released on a special website and at niko and … stores nationwide from September 12th.

The setting of the brand movie is the “Deau ni Au Editorial Department,” a place where mysterious unknowns are created by bringing things together. Kitamura and Kiyohara play the roles of fellow editorial staff members who are rivals, and they work hard every day to create a web magazine together with a puppet editor-in-chief.

The latest video features the original song “Day Life” written by TAIKING, guitarist of Suchmos and also active as a solo artist, and singer-songwriter iri.

Through the editorial staff’s free and unconventional exchanges that unfold along with the relaxing music, the message of the brand catchphrase of niko and …, “Meet Meet,” is expressed. Also pay attention to the latest styling of niko and … worn by Kitamura and Kiyohara.

About the niko and … 2024 Fall/Winter brand movie
The “Deau niau Editorial Department” is a place where strange things come together to create the mysterious unknown. The people who work there continue to edit the “next page” that the world has never seen before by combining strange things and things that would otherwise be meaningless.

The video features Kitamura as a laid-back male editor and Kiyohara as a reliable female editor. The video expresses how small events and encounters with new people can lead to new perspectives and ways of thinking, through the relaxing music sung by TAIKING and iri, which has a lo-fi chill sound, and the conversations between the editors. A total of six videos will be released this season.

Accompanied by the original song “Day Life,” the video shows a glimpse into the daily life of the “Deau ni Au Editorial Department.”

It’s a mysterious performance in which the two singers’ lips are synchronized with the music, as if they are rival editorial staff discussing a project through song!

■Interview with Takumi Kitamura and Kaya Kiyohara
Q: Is there anything you’ve come across recently that you like in relation to the keyword “encounter”?
Kiyohara:I recently bought a soap dish. I was trying out different ones to see which one would be best, and then I came across a soap dish that lets soap float and store it. I thought, “Ah, this is great” (laughs).

Kitamura:Recently, I bought an indoor bicycle. It’s really good. I ride it for about 40 to 50 minutes before taking a bath, and I get really sweaty. I bought it because I wanted something to do at home, and bicycles are great.

Q: We weren’t able to work with Kitamura-san on the shoot this time, but among all the outfits he wore, which look do you think was his favorite?
Kiyohara:I thought that he would like the outfit in the key visual, where he combines a blue blouson with a blue checked shirt. (Kitamura-san) is a very soft-spoken person, but he has a very cool impression, so I thought it would suit him.

Q: We weren’t able to work with Kiyohara on the shoot this time, but among the outfits she wore, which look do you think was her favorite?
Kitamura:For Kiyohara, I think it’s the oversized red knit. The color is nice, and I think she likes that kind of rough feel.

Q: Please tell us something you want to enjoy or work hard at this autumn in the form of “Autumn of XX”
Kiyohara:(Shows flip chart) Here it is! “Sleep well in autumn.” There’s nothing more to say than this, but I want to sleep a lot and become healthy.
(Ideal is) 9! I’ve heard that ideal is 8 hours. I felt like I should sleep an extra hour.

Kitamura:“Wearing Autumn.” Personally, I think autumn is the most fun time for fashion, so in that sense, I would be happy to discover something I’ve never tried before.

Q: In the second video to be released in the fall, Kitamura and Kiyohara are shown walking around all kinds of places. Is there anywhere you’d like to go right now?
Kiyohara:Fukuoka! I want to eat a lot of mentaiko. I happened to see something like mentaiko rice bowl on TV the other day, and it really made me want to eat it, so I’m going to Fukuoka.

Kitamura:As for places I want to go…surprisingly, I’d rather go somewhere in Japan than overseas. Anywhere is fine, but I want to feel nature. A river! I’d like to go camping somewhere with clean water.

Q: Please tell us the thoughts you put into this song and the points you paid particular attention to.
TAIKING:As I was singing it, it just felt right and I thought, “This is the only thing I can sing!” This is definitely the key point of this song.

iri:I often lose the confidence to wear something that really excites me, and I tend to wear safe things, but in the end, I like what I like and I end up buying it again. I have depicted this experience in a pop style.

Q: You two have produced many songs. What is the secret to creating popular songs?
TAIKING:When I’m writing songs, I try to be as honest as possible with who I am now, but I also think about the people who will listen to them and the people who have been involved with them, and I believe that when the work reaches listeners, it will be a work that exceeds my imagination.

iri:To put out music that I think is good.
