PEOPLE 1’s new song “Meriba” has been chosen as the theme song for the TBS Tuesday drama “Ano Kuzu wo Natte Yaitainda” which will start in October. The announcement was made at the Tokyo performance of “PEOPLE 1 2024 TOUR 7th Main Performance “after dark”” held at NHK Hall on September 12th.
The drama “I Want to Punch That Bastard” is a hardcore boxing love comedy about a protagonist who is run away by her boyfriend on her wedding day, and who meets a mysterious blonde man at the lowest point in her life. After meeting him, she decides, “I don’t want to be made to cry by scumbag men anymore!” and begins boxing in order to change herself.
Nao, in her first lead role in a TBS drama, will play the protagonist, a man in his 30s who aspires to become a professional boxer, while Tamamori Yuta (Kis-My-Ft2), will be appearing in a Tuesday drama for the first time in three years, as the mysterious blonde man who has all the girls hooked.
Keep an eye on the chemistry between PEOPLE 1, which is gaining momentum in the music scene, and this fall’s much-anticipated drama.

The long-awaited theme song has arrived! Thank you very much to everyone at PEOPLE 1. The rhythm of the protagonist’s chaotic mind as he stands in the ring of “love” and “boxing” makes my heart pound. I look forward to seeing the end credits that will clear my vision along with “Meriva” every episode!

This time, the theme is boxing, so I wanted to create a powerful theme song. That’s when I listened to PEOPLE 1’s music. The catchy melody is strong-willed and has a certain cuteness to it, and I thought it was the perfect musicality for this story, which has many elements such as Hokomi’s growth and Kairi’s past, so I offered them the song.
When I first heard “Meriba,” I felt that the words and music more clearly expressed the image of Hokomi and Kairi overcoming the various challenges that befall them, and I was glad that I offered them the role.
I hope you enjoy watching and wondering when the theme song will play.
