Watanabe Shota x Nakamura Anne x Tozuka Junki release a photo of the three friends to celebrate the total number of views of the missed broadcast of “Aoshima-kun is mean” exceeding 20 million

■In the final episode, Tanizaki (Tozuka Junki) gives a great assist to Aoshima (Watanabe Shota), who is worried about his future, by saying, “What’s important is not what you want, but what both of you want to do, right?”

The drama “Aoshima-kun is mean,” starring Snow Man’s Watanabe Shota and Nakamura Anne, which aired its final episode on September 14th, has exceeded 20.2 million total views for all episodes (calculated by Video Research for the period July 7th to September 16th). To commemorate this, a photo of the three of them, Watanabe, Nakamura, and Tozuka Junki, celebrating the occasion, was released.

This work became a hot topic as the number of views for the first catch-up broadcast broke the all-time record for the Oshidora slot (calculated by Video Research, period: July 7th to July 13th), and every episode from the second episode onwards ranked first in the TVer overall ranking. The final episode also ranked first in the TVer overall ranking.

The age gap “Pact Love” started with a small lie between Mizuki Aoshima (Watanabe), a younger, fasting guy who has no interest in love, and Yukino Katsuragi (Nakamura), a 35-year-old, dried-fish girl who has given up on love. It became a hot topic because every episode features a heart-fluttering scene that all girls long for, but many people also sympathized with Yukino’s real and honest feelings about giving up on love. Unique hashtags such as “#HajiraiChopstick”, “#ZabutonComeHere”, and “#OkanBlock” also attracted attention.

The final episode came amid much attention on what choice the two would make at the end. When Aoshima was worried about his future, “What’s important isn’t what you want, but what the two of us want to do?”, “#OurTanizaki” gave a great assist, which drew rave reviews for Tanizaki (Totsuka), with comments such as “I’m glad Tanizaki was there…” and “Aoshima-kun has some good friends.” At the end, the newlywed couple was safely united, but in “#NewlywedTomatoes,” in which Aoshima puts a cherry tomato in his mouth and stares at Yukino, viewers were thrilled, with comments such as “Both of these newlywed tomatoes are so cute I’m going crazy.” Furthermore, when Yukino sent “#FoodKiss,” in which “Yukino-san is mean” to Aoshima as he went to work, a storm of excitement erupted, with comments such as “Newlywed Life is too cute,” and “Yukino-san is mean!! This scene is unfair!!”

A flood of joyful comments were posted about the couple’s ending, such as, “I’m glad they had a happy ending,” “It was three months that made my heart flutter more than just flutter,” and “It was a heartwarming ending!”

Furthermore, there were also comments expressing regret over the end of the broadcast, such as, “This was an incredibly classic romantic comedy. I can’t believe I won’t be able to see Aoshima-kun and Yukino-san from next week…”, “I was so happy to meet Aoshima-kun and Yukino-san this summer”, and “I loved Aoshima-kun’s mothers and the other members of his company!!”

Episodes 1 to 3, as well as the final episode, are available for free on TVer. If you’re missing “Aoshima-kun is mean” or want to get some more of that cute feeling, be sure to enjoy it as many times as you like.
