This work is based on Kazumi Takayama’s novelist debut work “Trapezium” (published by KADOKAWA/serialized in “Da Vinci”) published in November 2018 when she was a member of Nogizaka46, and is about Yu Higashi, a high school student who aims to become an idol. , a story about a group of beautiful girls from north, south, east, and west who move toward their dreams. For the anime adaptation, the original author, Kazumi Takayama, participated in the scenario production.

Commenting on the long-awaited release of the novel after a production period that involved many detailed interactions with the staff, Takayama said, “When I wrote the novel, I was desperate and never thought it would lead to something as big as this (film). So, I think I would be surprised if I knew what the future was like back then. The voice actors were all so cute and sparkling…I’m feeling so many different emotions. “I had such a valuable experience working on this animated film,” he said, feeling overwhelmed with emotion.

When asked about his favorite points of this work, he answered, “I like the opening theme song, and I think it’s something unique to anime that you can’t get in novels.” It’s my favorite scene and makes me feel really excited, as it gives me the feeling that the story is about to begin. The scene where the members of Tozai, Nanboku, and others sing, and the indescribable expression on Shinji’s face when he appears, played by Mr. Kimata, are also interesting, so I hope you’ll pay attention to them. ”, he said of the highlights.

Yuu, who is carrying out a plan to collect beautiful girls from north, south, east, and west, meets Ranko Kacho, an innocent second-year student at Seinan Teneritas Girls’ Academy who admires Madame Butterfly, and Nishi, who is shy and obsessed with robots. They are Kurumi Taiga, a second-year student at the National College of Technology, and the “star of the north” Mika Kamei, a modest and kind first-year student at Joshu Kita High School who does volunteer work.

Yukawa, who plays the role of Yuu, prefaced this by saying, “For those who thought “Trapezium” would be a sparkling story about idols, there is a disturbing atmosphere that may come as a bit of a surprise…” “Yuu has a very strong desire to become an idol, so at first glance she may seem selfish, pointy, or unable to see others around her, so she may seem a little unpleasant. However, Yuu is an idol. The desire to aim for this is real, and the fact that I’m doing everything I can to make that dream come true remains the same from beginning to end. I hope you don’t hate Yuu and instead watch it with a warm heart and support! ”, emphasizing the charm of Yuu, who is straightforward about her dreams, saying, “I definitely want to become an idol.”

Hijimiya, who plays Kurumi, said, “Kurumi-chan is a fluffy girl with cute sleeves, but her eyes shine when she sees what she likes. Kurumi-chan and everyone from North, South, East, and West are struggling hard in front of her. I was really encouraged to see Kurumi-chan and see what kind of girl she is. I would be happy if you could think about it and spread the word on your way home!” he commented with a smile.

Ueda, who plays Ranko, said, “Ranko is said to be a strong character in the series, but while she is gorgeous, innocent, and unique, there are also many scenes where she stands between everyone and tries to be a lubricant. She is helpful to others. She is a child full of kind feelings, like wanting to warm up the atmosphere even a little, so I want people to pay attention to her and watch over her,” he said, referring to Ranko’s kindness.

Aikawa, who plays Mika, said, “Mika-chan is busy with volunteer work and seems like a calm and kind child, but she often thinks in her head and there are many scenes where she becomes overwhelmed and emotional.” How did Mika-chan feel when she said these words in this scene? She introduced Mika’s character by saying, “I would be happy if you could watch it thinking, “She is a child who is growing through the work, so I hope you will watch over her warmly.”

Beautiful girls from the East, West, North, and South, each with their own distinct personalities and personalities, gradually deepen their relationships through robocon competitions, cultural festivals, and volunteer activities, but as Yu pursues her dreams, the four of them… The relationship gradually changes. The relationship between these girls is also worth paying attention to.

Kimata played the role of Kudo Shinji, a high school boy who cooperates with Yuu’s plan to pursue his dreams with all his might and kindly watches over him.Kimata wears a white shirt, camel-colored pants, and black rimmed glasses, a costume inspired by Shinji in the movie, and Shinji. He took to the stage with a fresh hairstyle and excited the audience by introducing himself and saying, “I’m Shinji Kudo, who usually plays Shoya Kimata on JO1!”

Looking back on the role he played, he said, “Shinji may seem lazy and unreliable at first glance, but he’s actually a very kind and dependable man.In the second half of the story, I saw Shinji make smart schemes and grow up. I was moved to tears. The work itself moved me to tears, so I hope everyone can enjoy it as well,” he said, expressing his thoughts on the role and the charm of the work.

Director Shinohara said, “When I read the original work, I thought it was a novel filled with a lot of very interesting elements. At the same time, I continued to work on it, hoping to create a work that would make people feel even a little more positive.” ”, he said, talking about how he worked sincerely on Takayama’s original work to create the movie.

In commemoration of “Mother’s Day” on May 12th, the staff and cast would like to express their gratitude to Takayama, who is the creator of the story “Trapezium” and of “North, South, East, West, and South,” in celebration of its release. Give a carnation as a gift.

Yukawa, who played Yuu, said, “Thank you Kazumi Takayama for letting us and everyone who loves this work discover “Trapezium”! I’m really glad that I met Yuu!” With tears in his eyes, he handed Takayama a bouquet of bright carnations.

Takayama received the carnation with emotion and said, “Thank you very much! Even though I couldn’t even write about my feelings in the novel, I’m really happy that all the voice actors are thinking about their characters! You’re so kind.” I’m thrilled to have such professional people here, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to meet you!” he said with a big smile and a big round of applause from the audience.

At the end of the stage greeting, Takayama sent a message, and the event came to a close with the cast’s smiling faces.

“I like the connections between people, but it’s difficult to put it into words, so I wrote the novel with that in mind.“Trapezium” is about the difficulty of communication, and the uniqueness of human beings. It’s a work filled with all kinds of thoughts, such as conflicts and things like this when you were a student. Everyone has their own way of feeling about it, so I hope you enjoy it. I hope it adds some spice to your life!
