The second episode of the special YouTube project “LAST MILE -Premium Talk-” for the movie “The Last Mile” has been released.

The YouTube special project “LAST MILE -Premium Talk-” is a 25-minute special program hosted by Hikari Mitsushima, in which the cast members of “The Last Mile” are invited as guests to talk freely about the film and behind the scenes. This time, Go Ayano and Gen Hoshino from the “MIU404” team were invited as guests, and a premium roundtable discussion was held in which the worlds of “MIU404” and “The Last Mile” intersect.

It had been about four years since the two last played the “mismatched buddy” role, and Ayano recalled the joy he felt on the day of filming, saying, “When I met Gen-chan (Hoshino) on set, I felt like I was meeting Shima at the same time.” Hoshino expressed his joy at participating, saying, “I really loved the set of ‘MIU404,’ so I was happy to be able to come back to the set.”

Hoshino also revealed about his role, “Ibuki (Ayano) and Shima (Hoshino) must have solved serious cases over the past four years, so I tried to show the difference in their years as a buddy team.”

When asked by Mitsushima for their impressions of the film, the two carefully chose their words to talk about the overwhelming feelings they had after watching it. Ayano expressed, “Although ‘The Last Mile’ was produced in Japan, I felt it was sprinkled with love, and it was a film that I wanted to tell someone about after watching it.”

Hoshino passionately expressed his feelings, saying, “It’s a movie about work and life. I think after you finish watching it and leave the theater, the world will look different to you.”

Ayano, who said that he and MC Mitsushima have a relationship like childhood friends, asked her how it was to take part in this shared universe production, and Mitsushima opened up for the first time about her approach to the production and her role, as well as her concerns about taking part in a production that has so many fans of the two dramas.

In response to Ayano’s confession of anxiety, Hoshino replied, “We’re like family now,” and watched the exchange with a smile. It was a heartwarming scene for fans, as if they were welcoming Mitsushima as a new resident of this world.

At the Shared Universe Premiere held on the same day, fans in attendance erupted in cheers as the pair posed for a close-up selfie, creating a huge buzz on social media, and this project allows viewers to see them once again.

Be sure to enjoy this premium talk, which you can only hear here, including the thoughts that Ayano, Hoshino, and Mitsushima had about the work that they were not able to cover at the event, as well as their views and thoughts that can only be shared after the film has been released.
