YOASOBI releases "Monotone", the theme song for the movie "Touch." on the 5th anniversary of their formation! English version also available

■The theme song “Monotone” is based on the novel “The Night Before Touching,” written by Mari Okada, who also wrote the screenplay for the movie “Touching.”

YOASOBI will release their new song “Monotone”, written as the theme song for the original feature-length animated film “Touch.” on October 1st, the 5th anniversary of their formation, and the English version of the song, “Monotone”, on October 2nd. The cover photo has also been released.

The film “Touch” is the latest original feature-length animation brought to you by the three directors, Nagai Tatsuyuki, Okada Mari, and character designer/chief animation director Tanaka Masayoshi, who have worked on the heart-stirring youth trilogy “Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day” (2011, 2013), “The Anthem of the Heart” (2015), and “Her Blue Sky” (2019).

The story is about three childhood friends who are connected by the power of a mysterious creature called “touch” that allows them to touch each other without having to say their feelings out loud. The voice actors for the main characters Aki, Ryo, and Yuta are Nagase Ren, Bandō Ryuta, and Maeda Kentaro.

The new theme song for this film, “Monotone,” is based on the novel “Tureru. No, Zenya.” written by Mari Okada, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. The lyrics, which describe the loneliness of life and the feelings of thinking about someone, and the grand sound, are felt from the “relationships between people” depicted in the film, making this a song that really speaks to the heart.

The digital cover photo is a collaborative jacket designed using a scene from the film “Fureru.”, featuring the mysterious creature “Fureru.”

In addition, it has been decided that “Monotone” will be released on CD in a limited edition on October 2nd, the same day as the digital release of the English version.
