Kenshi Yonezu’s “LOST CORNER” surpasses half a million copies sold! First solo artist to surpass 500,000 copies sold for two albums in the Reiwa era



■Following their 5th album “STRAY SHEEP” released in 2020, this is their second consecutive album to sell over 500,000 copies.

Kenshi Yonezu’s 6th album “LOST CORNER”, released on August 21st, sold 20,000 copies in the latest “Oricon Weekly Album Ranking” announced on September 25th, ranking 5th. Cumulative sales have reached 515,000 copies.

With this, Yonezu has now surpassed 500,000 copies in sales for two consecutive albums, following his fifth album “STRAY SHEEP” released in 2020. He is the first solo artist in the Reiwa era to achieve this feat of surpassing 500,000 copies in cumulative sales with two albums. Yonezu is also the only solo artist to have achieved cumulative sales of 500,000 copies with works released in the Reiwa era.

The sixth album, “LOST CORNER,” features a lineup of 20 songs, including “Goodbye, See You Again!,” the theme song for the NHK morning drama “Wings of a Tiger,” and “Junk,” the theme song for the movie “The Last Mile.”

The album includes previously released songs such as “Globe,” the theme song for “How Do You Live?”, an Academy Award-winning animated feature film directed by Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki (the official spelling of “崎” is “tatsusaki”); “I Was Looking at the Moon,” the theme song for the video game “FINAL FANTASY XVI”; “KICKBACK,” the opening theme for the TV anime “Chainsaw Man,” which was the first Japanese artist to rank in the Top 50 on Spotify’s global rankings and the first Japanese song to be certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA); “M87,” the theme song for the movie “Shin Ultraman;” “POP SONG,” the PlayStation commercial song; “RED OUT,” the Spotify brand commercial song; and “LADY,” the commercial song for Coca-Cola Georgia in Japan, as well as nine new songs.

The product had been a hot topic even before its release and has been an unusually long-running hit since its release, leading to this new record.

In addition, Kenshi Yonezu will be holding the “Kenshi Yonezu 2025 TOUR / JUNK” from January 2025.
