BLANKEY JET CITY releases 4K upconverted music video for "TEXAS"

■Blankey’s first live video, “DOG FOOD,” will also be released in its entirety in a full HD upconverted version on YouTube for one night only!

The music video for BLANKEY JET CITY’s “TEXAS,” upconverted to 4K quality, was released for the first time.

BLANKEY JET CITY is a legendary three-piece rock band consisting of Kenichi Asai (Vo&Gu), Toshiyuki Terui (Ba), and Tatsuya Nakamura (Dr). After disbanding in 2000, they continue to have a tremendous influence on the music scene and are highly respected by artists of all generations.

On July 28, 2024, 24 years after their shocking breakup, the long-awaited subscription (streaming) service was launched, causing a sensation among music fans.

Then, on September 25th, the first vinyl releases of the band’s first album, “Red Guitar and the Truth” (originally released on April 12th, 1991) and second album, “BANG!” (originally released on January 22nd, 1992) were released. This marks the long-awaited first vinyl release of the first and second albums, which were not available on vinyl at the time of their original release.

This carefully crafted analog record was digitally transferred in high resolution from the original analog recording master tape and then cut directly to create a sound image that is different from that of a CD, making it a much-anticipated release for all music fans, not just fans of the band.

To commemorate this first release on vinyl, the music video for the single “TEXAS” from their first album has been upconverted to 4K quality and premiered on their official YouTube channel.

It was also announced that the entire video of their memorable first live performance, “DOG FOOD,” which recorded the live concert at Shibuya Public Hall on February 12, 1992, will be released for the first time in a full HD upconverted version on YouTube for a one-night-only premiere on October 8th at 8pm.

On July 2nd, BLANKEY JET CITY suddenly opened an official YouTube artist channel and an official X (formerly Twitter). A week later, on July 9th, the second day of the two-day Yokohama Arena concert, which was the final performance of their last tour 24 years ago, the legendary live show “LAST DANCE” held on July 9th, 2000, was upconverted to full HD and premiered on YouTube for one night only. More than 31,000 people watched the video in real time, and the related keyword “Blankey0709” became the number one trending keyword for X in Japan. As the video ended, it was announced as a big surprise that all songs would be available for subscription (July 28th), all original albums would be released on vinyl (to be released sequentially from September 25th to 2025), and the album “LAST DANCE” would be available for subscription in advance. After the announcement, many related keywords became trending, and the album “LAST DANCE”, which was available for subscription in advance, caused a major phenomenon, reaching a peak of 8th place on Apple Music’s top albums.
