■“This is a work in which I took on the challenge with all my might.” (Nobuyuki Suzuki)

It has been decided that the movie “Salaryman Kintaro”, in which Nobuyuki Suzuki will play the role of salaryman Kintaro, will be released.

After a total of 30 million copies in the series and 30 years since the series began, it has been decided that Hiroshi Motomiya’s original manga “Salaryman Kintaro” will be made into a movie in the Reiwa era. What’s more, the film will be released in two consecutive parts: the Akatsuki arc, which announces the birth of a new Kintaro, and the Saki arc, in which Kintaro confronts the huge interests that control Japan.

Nobuyuki Suzuki plays the main character, office worker Kintaro. “Salaryman Kintaro[Akatsuki]Edition” will be released nationwide from January 10, 2025, and “Salaryman Kintaro[Saki]Edition” will be released nationwide from February 7, 2025 at Shinjuku Wald 9 and other theaters.

At the same time, the teaser visual for this work was also released.

■Nobuyuki Suzuki passionately performs “Reiwa version” Kintaro!
A legendary office worker who ran through the Heisei era has returned to Japan in the Reiwa era. “Salaryman Kintaro”, which popular manga artist Hiroshi Motomiya has been drawing for 22 years, has been made into a TV drama and a movie starring Katsunori Takahashi and Dai Nagai. Thirty years after the serialization began, Nobuyuki Suzuki has been appointed as the third generation of Kintaro Yajima, an outrageous former salaryman. It will bring a new breeze to the stalemate of Reiwa Japan and the chaotic world.

What’s more, it is a two-part story: the Akatsuki arc, which announces the birth of the new Kintaro, and the Saki arc, in which Kintaro attacks the huge interests that control Japan. Nobuyuki Suzuki (Kintaro) exhilaratingly and exhilaratingly breaks through the barriers of reality that everyone feels in their respective positions, from young office workers who are just starting out to veterans who know the heavy responsibilities of management.

However, times have changed since the original manga and past film adaptations, many values have changed, and compliance has become stricter. Will Kintaro, a former head of a motorcycle gang who jumped from a tuna fisherman to the world of an office worker, be able to stick to his beliefs using his old-fashioned drive and skill as weapons? Although his bravery of never giving up on anything that cannot be compromised remains the same, Kintaro has been updated over time to create a character that feels fresher than ever.

There is a strong lineup of characters surrounding Kintaro who compete with each other on the strength of their quirks, and the rest of the cast will be announced at a later date.

■Nobuyuki Suzuki comment
I will play the role of Kintaro Yajima.
My name is Nobuyuki Suzuki.
Thank you very much for speaking with me.
While valuing the core strength of the character that oozes out from the script,
In this day and age, it feels difficult to even say a single word.
I felt very refreshed playing the Reiwa version of Kintaro, who is pushing ahead and breaking the mold.
I would be happy if you could see how Kintaro, who is going against the times, confronts society.
I miss the days when I would go home every day with a dry throat and exhaustion.
This is a work that I took on with all my might.
I hope this work will be loved by everyone.

■Director Ten Shimoyama’s comment
In today’s era, where we are bound by compliance that eliminates anything at risk, can there be unconventional office workers who are willing to break the rules for the sake of a good cause?
No, no, it is precisely because we live in a modern world bound by various constraints that we are waiting for the appearance of Kintaro Yajima.
I am confident that his “correctness” and “strength” will be a clue to updating Japan into a new one.

■Comment from producer Toshihiro Maeda
Today’s Japan is full of distrust in politics, widening social disparities, and anxiety about the future. In a world where people can’t say what they want to say, I thought we needed Kintaro Yajima, an outrageous man who ignores compliance.
Kintaro’s direct and passionate thoughts move people’s hearts, and seeing him rise to the top in the company will leave you feeling refreshed and encouraged a little bit.
It has a new setting and story that fits the current times. I thought Nobuyuki Suzuki would be perfect for the role of Kintaro in the new Reiwa version. His physique, personality, and powerful gaze all make Kintaro unlike anything you’ve seen before.
Please look forward to the Reiwa version of “Salaryman Kintaro”.
