Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra’s new song “Teach Me Ouroboros feat. Asako Miyazaki (SHISHAMO)” will be the theme song for Nippon Television’s Friday night drama “Divorce Lawyer Spider” (every Friday from 24:30) starting October 4th. It was decided.

“Teach Me Ouroboros feat. Asako Miyazaki (SHISHAMO)” is a guitar and guitar song by SHISHAMO, a three-piece rock band that delicately expresses the sparkle and pain of love with an outstanding melody sense and unique worldview, and is supported by a wide range of generations. Vocalist Asako Miyazaki is invited as a guest vocalist. Although they have interacted in the past at each other’s live shows, this is the first time Miyazaki will be singing as a guest vocalist for Ska Para.

This song will be included in Skapara’s new album “35”, which will be released on October 23rd. Advance distribution will start from midnight on October 12th.

Prior to the drama airing, a preview video of the theme song version was also released. Please check it out.

■Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra Atsushi Yanaka Comment
Actually, I told Asako Miyazaki a long time ago, “My dream is to collaborate with Skapara someday. ‘, and that was a big dream for me too.
Shortly before the topic of the theme song for the drama “Divorce Lawyer Spider” came up, I had the opportunity to perform with Asako-san, singing “Ashimomo” by SHISHAMO, “Living Lips” and “Beautifully Burning Forest” by Skapara. When I heard Asako sing, I saw Asako add attractive colors to the characters in the lyrics, who may have different ages and backgrounds, and I realized that this person could be the main character of the lyrics, just like the performers. I was convinced. After discussing it with all the Ska Para members, I made an offer to Asako.
While writing the lyrics, I decided to write about the feelings of a woman who is a mixture of love and hate in order to get close to the drama of a divorce lawyer, but how did Asako feel when her honest feelings hit a wall? Is it? I imagined this and proceeded to write the lyrics. For some reason, the ouroboros, a mythical symbol of a snake swallowing its tail, came to mind, and I thought about it in connection with the motif of the Great Mother, who in psychology is said to “give birth and then swallow”. I went. Even though it contains chaos and contradictions, Ouroboros is an orderly universe that seems to ignore it, and it is also an attractive darkness that makes you want to return even if you escape from it. Is it possible to express the complex feelings of love that even the person in question cannot understand through ouroboros? It didn’t take long for me to start thinking about it.
The beginning and end of this song were made to resemble an ouroboros with its beginning and end, mouth and tail touching. No matter how difficult and messy the breakup was during the divorce, the fact that you truly loved each other and started dating is both a relief and a sense of emptiness. In this song, I wanted to portray the strength of a woman who overcomes all that.

■SHISHAMO Asako Miyazaki comment
Up until now, we have had the opportunity to participate in Skapara’s live performances as a guest, and conversely, have performed on the SHISHAMO stage, and have shared many moments of enjoying music together. Being able to be involved in a production as a vocalist is truly special to me.
When I was a student, even before I started making music, I’ve been listening to Skapara for a long time, and ever since I started working as SHISHAMO, I’ve dreamed of releasing a song with Skapara to the world someday.
I’m really happy that this happened at the commemorative timing of Ska Para’s 35th anniversary.
I was so happy with everything about this collaboration that I savored every second of it as I walked along.
This is the ultimate blessing of being a vocalist.
Right now, I’m just excited and looking forward to this song reaching so many people, but I’m sure I’ll continue to cherish this song like a treasure, even decades from now.
