It has been announced that THE ALFEE, who celebrated their 50th anniversary since their debut, will appear on NHK’s “SONGS” for the first time.
Since their debut in 1974, THE ALFEE has been a driving force in Japan’s music scene, producing numerous hit songs and having 58 albums reach the top 10 of singles charts, the most ever by a Japanese rock band.
In this edition of SONGS, we will be filming on location with THE ALFEE, visiting the place of their origin. We reunited with the two benefactors who supported their breakthrough and the story behind the 10 years it took them to become a hit.
And when talking about THE ALFEE’s appeal, “live” is essential. The total number of performances to date has exceeded 2,900, which is also the highest among any Japanese rock band. The person in charge, Oizumi, reveals the behind-the-scenes aspects of the concert, which at the time attracted 100,000 people, the largest in Japan.
Oizumi was excited by the three’s harmonious talk, saying, “This is the most I’ve ever done without hosting a show. This is the first time I’ve laughed so much during a recording.”
In the studio performance, Oizumi performed his favorite THE ALFEE song “Brave Love ~Galaxy Express 999”. Oizumi also participated in the studio recording. After singing, Oizumi’s words came out.
In addition, they will perform a special medley of “Mary Ann ~ Starry Sky Distance”! They will also perform “Hajimari no Uta” with a new determination for the 50th anniversary.
