■”I didn’t practice at all. I thought it would be weird to play Taichi Igarashi if I was really good at drums, so I went without practicing at all.” (Ae! group Akiya Sano)
Scene photos and behind-the-scenes photos of Sano’s drum performance scene have been released for the movie “Ashi wo Tsuru Photo Studio” (released nationwide on June 7th) starring Akiya Sano (Ae! group).
This work is based on the manga of the same name by Risa Aruta and directed by Jun Akiyama. Sei Hiraizumi, who boasts a 60-year career and will turn 80 just before the film’s release, makes his long-awaited first starring role. His partner will be Akiya Sano from the Ae! group, which is attracting attention in the entertainment world as he prepares for his CD debut on May 15th. In addition, a gorgeous cast of actors including Koichi Sato, Michiko Kichise, Katsunori Takahashi, Ken Tanaka, Jun Miho, Hidekazu Akai, Hitomi Kuroki, and Yoshie Ichige have gathered together.
In this work, Akiya Sano plays Taichi, an up-and-coming photographer who won the grand prize in a photo contest three years in a row and is constantly receiving offers from various places. However, after seeing one photo, he becomes an apprentice to Samejima (Sei Hiraizumi), a photographer who runs a deserted photo studio. As they work together and come into contact with Samejima’s thoughts as a photographer and the “remaining memories” of the people who visit the Samejima Photo Studio, he realizes that he himself has “remaining memories” that he has had for a long time.
There is a scene where Taichi plays the drums at the wedding hall where his mother Sae (Hitomi Kuroki) works. In fact, this scene was not in the script and was suggested by director Jun Akiyama a week before filming. There were no detailed instructions or lines, and Sano said, “I didn’t practice at all.I thought it would be weird to play Taichi Igarashi if he was really good at drums, so I went without any practice.I thought it had been a long time since Taichi touched the drums.” “I thought about it, and I went with that kind of light feeling,” he says, revealing that the filming was done in an almost ad-lib style.
In response to such drumming and acting, Hiraizumi’s improvisational acting also jumped out, and the scene was filmed in the climax of the mood. Hiraizumi said, “Sano-kun is so easy-going. He can dance, play music, and act. I don’t know what he’s going to do in the future, but he has a lot of great things in him.” I am giving you words of praise.
What has been released this time is a photo of Akiya Sano playing the drums without any practice. Even at Ae! group’s live shows, Sano says the sense of unity and groove with the members and fans is “the best!” It is said that filming this scene was a feeling similar to the exhilaration he felt at that live performance. The shot shows Sano smiling and showing off the fun he had on set.

【story】
Samejima (Hiraizumi Sei) is a taciturn photographer who runs a deserted photo studio. Taichi (Akiya Sano), an up-and-coming photographer who is captivated by his photographs, abandons his brilliant career and applies to become his apprentice. Taichi, who has avoided even communicating with his family, is surprised to see Samejima interact with visitors so deeply that they go beyond the relationship of photographer and subject. Even as Taichi is being swayed by Samejima, who is desperately trying to help people with their worries and problems, he begins to realize what he is lacking. At the same time, he learns that Samejima and his family also have “remaining memories” that they have ignored. The ever-changing Taichi takes a step toward a future without regrets. I am moved to tears by the unexpected miracle that will follow.
