NHK “The Covers Mariya Takeuchi Night!” ～Debut 45th Anniversary Special～” Details announced for 2 weeks of continuous broadcasting

“Takeuchi Mariya Night!” will be broadcast for two weeks on the October broadcast of NHK “The Covers”. ～45th Anniversary Special～”. Ahead of the broadcast, details of the content have been announced.

Mariya Takeuchi has continued to produce many famous songs since her debut in 1978. In October, they released their first original album in 10 years. Many famous songs have been sung by covers.

This time, a large number of gorgeous guests who respect Mariya Takeuchi will be gathered together! Crazy Ken Band, the “best sound machine in the East” that continues to captivate fans with musicality that transcends genres; Night Tempo, a DJ/music producer from South Korea who sparked the global city pop boom in recent years; and Hyundai, who celebrated their 20th anniversary since their debut. ‘s “City Pop Muse” Asako Toki, and Rei, a singer-songwriter who made her world debut with her outstanding guitar playing. Guests from across genres and generations will cover their beloved “Mariya Takeuchi’s works” and discuss their appeal.

The first night will explore the charm of Mariya Takeuchi’s songwriting, based on the million-hit album “REQUEST” released in 1987. The cover song is the famous ballad “Eki” from “REQUEST” that has been sung for generations. Crazy Ken Band presents an arrangement that pays respect to Tatsuro Yamashita’s sound.

There will also be a special message to the program from Mariya Takeuchi, who loves covers. Takeuchi talks about the charm of “covers” and the fun and charm of “singing and singing from generation to generation.”

The second night will be based on the famous song “Plastic Love” that triggered the worldwide city pop boom in recent years, and the masterpiece “VARIETY” (1984) on which this song is included. Let’s dig deeper into the charm of “Mariya’s works”.

Korean DJ and music producer Night Tempo, who re-edited “Plastic Love” and popularized it around the world, arranged this song specially for the show. In collaboration with the modern “city pop muse” Asako Toki, we will deliver a cover performance only available here.

In addition, singer-songwriter Rei will present “Let me sing with Merseybeat”, which is a song from “VARIETY” and describes Mariya Takeuchi’s musical origins and her thoughts on the Beatles, in a session with guitarist Yoshiyuki Sahashi.

The stage this time is NHK’s CR509 studio in Shibuya, Tokyo.
