■“OUR BIGGEST VOICE, ARMY” (BTS・RM)
On October 7th at 8pm, RM’s first documentary film “RM: Right People, Wrong Place” was screened for the world premiere at the Busan Film Center Outdoor Theater.
“RM: Right People, Wrong Place” is a documentary film that covers the eight months of RM’s production process to complete his second solo album. It depicts the honest feelings of “BTS’s leader,” “solo artist RM,” and “the human Kim Namjoon.” The addition of sensuous images created an atmosphere similar to that of an art film.
RM’s film was the first K-POP documentary to be officially invited to the Open Cinema section of the 29th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). BIFF describes this work as “Although it is an album making film, it is also a very special diary of youth.”
Despite the bad weather with heavy rain, the outdoor theater was filled with fans who came to support RM and spectators from all over the world. Prior to the official screening, director Lee Seok-joon, assistant director Lim Soo-bin, music director Junkyard, who directed the movie, as well as Sangyang of Balming Tiger, who participated in the production of RM’s second solo album “Right Place, Wrong Person”, Jang Sehun and others appeared for the stage greeting.
Director Lee Seok Joon says, “This movie is a record of RM’s deep inner life, and a record of the emotions that everyone has felt at least once in their lives.” The album production team expressed their thoughts, “We are grateful to be able to watch RM’s past itinerary together in such a special space.We wanted to convey our congratulations to RM and the audience.”
When RM’s interview video, which was shown for the first time at the scene, was played, the excitement reached its climax. In the video, RM says, “(This documentary) captures Kim Namjoon as a real person,” adding, “’Right’ and ‘Wrong’ keep changing depending on what perspective you look at. I think I became one of the ‘Right’ people while working on it,” he added.
The screening that day began with a passionate response from the audience. During the 90-minute screening, the audience sometimes laughed, sometimes deeply empathized, and walked in step with RM’s past youthful journey. In particular, after the screening ended, the audience filling the outdoor theater continued to applaud until the ending credits had finished, and RM sent a loving message to his fans with the subtitle, “OUR BIGGEST VOICE, ARMY.” Ta.
‘RM: Right People, Wrong Place’ has successfully completed its ‘BIFF’ world premiere and will be released to global audiences in theaters around the world in December.
