Making photos and off-shots of the movie “Maru” starring Tsuyoshi Domoto (to be released on October 18th) have been released.

Nine new photos have been released, ranging from behind-the-scenes photos that capture the seriousness just before the shoot, to off-shots of the actors spending time together in a relaxed atmosphere.

On the first day of crank-in, Sawada was filming in a back alley in Yokohama, visiting a second-hand goods store, and after stopping when his eyes caught a lot of “〇” drawn in white chalk on the road, he walked and faded out of the frame. Filming started with the following scene. Domoto, who played the lead role, played the role of Shinsuke Takasugi in “Gintama 2” (2018), but considering that the type of play is completely different, it has been 10 years since “Platonic” (2014). It will be a comeback for the first time in a while.

The main character, Sawada, was Domoto’s assignment, so Domoto and director Ogigami always took time to talk before filming each scene before rolling the camera. And they weren’t the only ones talking. Regarding the situation at the scene, Domoto said, “Ayano (Tsuyoshi) and everyone else said, “Maybe this is how it is, maybe there’s this kind of interpretation, and maybe they’re saying these lines because they have these feelings.” , I enjoyed the feeling of the director thinking about it right before he said, “Yo, hey!” for the actual performance.” The photos released this time capture the process of carefully creating the work “Maru” while coordinating each other’s thoughts and images.

Furthermore, regarding the scene in which Sawada’s emotions overflow at the end of the film, which Domoto says was “particularly difficult,” he said, “We worked on it with the intention of reaching the peak there. However, the director, producer, and other members of the production team were very kind and communicated their thoughts to me, so I took on the challenge with the intention of responding with all my heart and soul to the best of my ability. I did it,” he said, revealing his thoughts at the time he played the role.

In addition, off-shots of Domoto chatting with Tsuyoshi Ayano and Win Morisaki, as well as Domoto cleaning an ancient fish tank between shots and Ayano watching over him, show how sincerely and carefully they worked on the shoot and built a relationship of trust through co-starring. You can feel the warm atmosphere that has been created at the site. There’s also a rare photo of “Domoto addicted to a crane game at a convenience store at the filming location,” which Morisaki introduced at the completion report event the other day. Director Ogigami said he got a doll that was “not cute” and was all smiles.

Although it was his first solo lead role in a movie in 27 years, Sawada was able to embody the character that only Domoto could embody, based on his decades-long career as an artist. What kind of story will Sawada’s life unfold in an unexpected direction with his unique characters? Stay tuned for further updates.
