SKY-HI×BE:FIRST “N-Con 2025” Selected as composer of junior high school club theme song

It has been decided that SKY-HI and BE:FIRST will produce the theme song for the 2025 NHK National School Music Contest “N-Con” junior high school division.

NHK National School Music Contest “N-Con” is Japan’s largest choral competition in which elementary, junior high, and high school students from all over the country participate. At the “91st NHK National School Music Contest National Competition Junior High School Division” held at NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo on October 14th (E-Tele/live broadcast), the 2025 (92nd) N-Con Junior High School Division was held at the NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo. The composer of the theme song was announced.

Every year, famous poets and artists are involved in the production of assigned songs for N-Con. In particular, the aim of the junior high school division is to create songs that will make junior high school students want to sing along themselves. This time, SKY-HI, who is active as an artist and music producer, will produce the assigned song, and BE:FIRST, who has an overwhelming support mainly among teenagers, will sing the assigned song, and junior high school students from all over the country will sing in chorus. We will deliver songs that will wake you up to the joy of life.

The theme of the theme song for “92nd N-Con 2025” is “Sora”.

It has also been decided that the lyrics for the elementary school club theme song will be written by Yuko Onari, a picture book author and manga artist, and the lyrics for the high school club theme song will be written by screenwriter Akiko Nogi.

I believe that supporting junior high school students is an important job for me. In this era where cynicism, self-deprecation, and masochism stand out as content, we must pay attention to the preciousness of pursuing one’s dreams, the overwhelming severity of that, and the toughness of continuing to do so. I would like to continue to support people in doing things that they do, and in celebrating each day. I will do my best to make this N-Con 2025 theme song production a new page in history not only for myself but also for BE:FIRST, who will be participating in the song. I was at a school where choir was popular. I remember when my voice overlapped beautifully with someone other than myself, my heart and body trembled, and I felt like the music was moving around inside me.
I hope that everyone who sings can inflate that kind of “sky” that they can put their heart into.

When I was a student, I loved choir time. When I adapted a movie that featured a choir, I had a lot of fun drawing it. This time, I was worried about the request to write the lyrics, something I had never done before, but I decided to accept the request as it was a coincidence. Singing in chorus feels good. I wish I could create a choral song that everyone can sing comfortably. thank you.
