■The phrase “Apatu” (*meaning apartment in Korean) that appears in the song comes from the slogan of “Apatu Game,” a drinking game popular among young people in South Korea.
BLACKPINK’s main vocalist and global icon ROSE (Rosé/E is officially spelled with Acute Accent) and global superstar Bruno Mars, who has won 15 Grammy Awards, have released a collaborative song called “APT.” (Read: Apatu) was released on October 18th.
A music video was also released at the same time, and the video was directed by Daniel Ramos, who also directed the music video for Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s song “Die With A Smile.”
“APT.” is the lead single from ROSE’s first studio album “rosie” scheduled to be released on December 6th. Bruno Mars not only sings on this song, but is also in charge of producing it, making it an impressive song with a catchy and memorable melody.
Furthermore, the phrase “Apatu” (*meaning apartment in Korean) that appears at the beginning and chorus of the song is very distinctive, and this phrase is based on the “Apatu Game”, a drinking game popular among young people in South Korea. It is derived from the chant.
“’Apatu’ is my favorite Korean drinking game that I play with friends in my hometown. It’s a very simple game that makes everyone smile and instantly brings everyone together at any party,” says ROSE. “I showed this game to my crew in the studio one night, and they were really interested, especially when I started chanting “Apatu.” While I was there, I suggested, “Let’s make this into a song.” Then Bruno joined me on the track, and it all started from there.”
The album “rosie” (pronounced: Rosie) consists of 12 songs in total. All songs were written, composed, and produced by ROSE herself, making it her most personal and honest work to date. The album is currently available for pre-order.
