Kento Nakajima’s “super realistic” new legal drama stars a lawyer whose favorite phrase is “It’s someone else’s business!?”

■“Please enjoy the extremely dry part of me (lol)” (Kento Nakajima)

The TV Tokyo drama 8 starring Kento Nakajima, “It’s Another Person’s Affairs (Hitogoto) Desukara ~A Certain Lawyer’s Honest Work~” (every Friday from 8:00 PM), will begin on July 19th.

The original work is a blockbuster manga that has sold over 2.1 million copies (electronic + paper), “Because it’s someone else’s business ~A lawyer’s true feelings~” (Original work: Masami Sato / Illustration: Katsuhito Fujiya / Supervision: Yohei Shimizu / Hakusensha Serialized in “Kuromitsu”).

This is the hottest legal manga of the moment, in which the eccentric protagonist Osamu Yasuda, a lawyer, solves Internet flare-ups and SNS troubles that have developed into social issues, with the motto of “Don’t worry about others.”

It thoroughly realistically depicts interactions between lawyers and consultants that have never been depicted before, as well as actual court proceedings, and depicts the many online troubles in which anyone can be either the victim or the perpetrator. “I can’t stay there!” has become a hot topic.

The drama version, while faithfully depicting the cases that appear in the original work, pursues the reality of the conflicts and emotional changes that occur as the lawyers and their clients fight realistically, which can only be conveyed in a video work. It will be delivered as a live-action drama series that is “not about anyone else” and includes elements such as original characters.

The main character of this work, lawyer Osamu Yasuda, is not only active as an idol, but also showed off his friendly charm on variety shows, but now he is evolving as an actor, from romantic roles to serious roles. Kento Nakajima continues.

In this work, which is his first appearance and first leading role in a TV Tokyo drama, he plays the role of Yasuda Osamu, an eccentric lawyer who has a cute smile but whose words and actions are not cute at all, with great sharpness and at times comical.

Although he dismisses the clients who visit him by saying, “This is someone else’s business, isn’t it?”, he also solves the problems of internet flames, SNS troubles, and slander that are prevalent in modern times, refreshingly, refreshingly, and darkly based on his own beliefs.

In the summer of 2024, TV Tokyo will be broadcasting a new-age “ultra-realistic” legal drama, “It’s Other People’s Affairs – A Lawyer’s Honest Work.”

■Original work: Masami Sato Comments
Congratulatory drama! I’m glad!
It’s common for manga artists to often jokingly talk to the editors in charge of things like, “It would be great if it were made into a drama,” but I never thought it would actually become a reality.
In the original work, I tried to depict the professional content as clearly as possible, such as how a lawyer should proceed with his work from a legal perspective regarding Internet troubles such as Internet troubles.
I’m really glad I worked hard, and I would like to once again thank the best drawing, supervision, and editing teams, as well as all the readers who have supported me thus far! !
I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of Yasuda-san, the lead actor Kento Nakajima, will play in the drama version, as it’s someone else’s business!

Finally, the work I am involved in is media mix! It will be made into a live-action drama!
I’ve always thought that the internet, slander, information disclosure, and live-action depictions are very compatible, so my wish has come true!
I think there are many people who have different thoughts about this kind of topic. Especially in popular businesses and media.
I would be happy if the result was a work in which those feelings were expressed with all my might, rather than just being someone else’s problem.
I am looking forward to seeing the success of lawyer Osamu Yasuda, who makes me angry but doesn’t hate me!

■Supervised by Yohei Shimizu (attorney) Comments
Dramatized! ! Although it is only legal supervision, I am very happy.
When I looked into it, I found out that the first time I received an inquiry from Hakusensha was in March 2020. To begin with, this inquiry was just a simple consultation asking, “Is it possible to make a manga out of something related to the internet?” My honest impression at the time was that it would be possible to turn such a plain story into a manga. However, I was really surprised that it actually led to serialization and that it was well received by the world.
When it comes to legal manga and dramas, lawyers often point out things like, “There’s no way that could happen!” or “This is strange!” on social media, but it’s important to keep it realistic. Mr. Sato, the author of the original work, wanted to make the content very strictly legal, and fortunately (so far) he has not received any such complaints.
I will be supervising the law for the drama as well, but I want to do my part properly so that I don’t get criticized by my peers (lol).

■Kento Nakajima (Osamu Yasuda) Comment
Q: Please tell us how you felt when it was decided that you would appear in the drama, and what you thought after reading the script.
It’s my first drama after graduating from Sexy Zone, so I’m going to approach it with the mindset of a newcomer. As I read the script, I realized that in the internet society, everyone is dealing with worries, struggles, and smartphones. The way the lawyer I play cuts through those emotions and makes me feel refreshed was an irresistible pleasure for me, and it was an exhilarating read.

Q: This is a legal drama that deals with themes that are most familiar to us today, such as slander and SNS flare-ups. Please tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the role of lawyer Osamu Yasuda, who takes on such cases.
In the small world of smartphones, modern people are plagued by harsh words and lies that appear in the “comment section.” No. 1, the correct answer is not to read such comments, but in this day and age, sometimes that doesn’t happen, so if we deal with it through the law when faced with it, what kind of consequences await the perpetrators, and what are the consequences for the victims? Lawyer Osamu Yasuda, who I play, tells us what kind of answers we can find in a very cold yet gentle way for just a moment. Please enjoy this extremely dry part of me (lol).

Q: Please give a message to the viewers who are looking forward to the drama.
In this age where SNS is the main focus, we know and believe a lot of information, and sometimes we are troubled and confused. I would like to reflect the scenery and experiences I have seen in the incidents that Yasuda deals with in the story, and show everyone a thrilling and dangerous drama that can only be seen in this drama. I’m here. Please enjoy watching me play a lawyer who cuts through the darkness of SNS!

■TV Tokyo Drama Room Junpei Nakagawa (producer) comment
Internet “flaming” and “slander” are causing a stir every day. Sometimes it can even be a matter of life or death. “Flames” are no longer limited to celebrities, but can also happen to ordinary people. If we were to be caught up in such a “flame”, how would we respond? In this work, the main character, a lawyer, uses the law as a weapon to take on these “flames”. However, this weapon is not an all-purpose sword that can cut anything, but it also has its limitations, which can sometimes cause pain to the user. There are hundreds of legal dramas out there, but there are very few that specialize in dealing with internet troubles. In this work, the real situation is depicted in a sometimes exciting and sometimes bitter way, including the drama faced by both the “victim” and the “perpetrator” of the fire.
Kento Nakajima, who will be appearing in a TV Tokyo drama for the first time, will play the role of the main character, lawyer Yasuda. He is extremely talented as a lawyer. However, the main character who loves sweets and games and does not read the atmosphere around him at all will give us a glimpse of a new side of “Kenty” and at the same time will definitely breathe new life into the 8 drama slots. Please look forward to the new legal drama “It’s another person’s business”!
