Sukima Switch will release their 10th original album “A museMentally” on July 10th.

Like an attraction at an amusement park, this album has a variety of expressions for each song, and the way you enjoy it changes by listening to it from a different perspective. This is a masterpiece that brings together the Sukima Switch characteristics that have been accumulated over the past 20 years, as well as new expression methods one after another, and the future Sukima Switch characteristics that will make the music goddess “Muse” smile. .

This work includes the TV program “Shimajiro no Wow! It will include a total of 10 songs, including the collaboration song “Kotobarizumu”, the theme song “Lovin’ Song” for the TV Asahi Friday night drama “Ossan’s Love -Returns-”, and 8 new songs.

It will be released in two formats: a regular edition and a made-to-order DELUXE edition (exclusive to fan clubs), and the DELUXE edition will be a deluxe box that includes footage of festivals and events performed in 2023, as well as album recording documents.

When making this original album, I thought about many things more than ever before.
The first thing I thought about was whether CDs were appropriate or needed in this day and age.
It’s very sad and lonely to have to think about such things first, but I guess that’s how times change. Still, we still want to deliver our music on CD. No matter how much times change, the form of music that we think of remains the same, and maybe it can’t be changed. After all, CDs were what made our dreams and aspirations for music come true. As a slight aside, during the recording of this album, I ran into the members of Official Hige Dandism several times in the same studio. In that vein, I had a chat with vocalist Fujiwara-kun for the first time in a while. “How are you doing?” or “What are you working on right now?” It was just casual small talk, but now that I think about it, we also talked about whether or not we were going to release a CD. Fujiwara-kun seemed to feel the same way, and I told him that CDs are necessary and that they are a place for us to express ourselves. I have a lot of respect for their music, and I was happy to hear those words from his mouth. And to be honest, there was a part of me that felt really relieved. Even artists from the generation below us think so! That’s it. I’m afraid I’ll get angry if I talk about Fujiwara-kun without permission, so I’ll get back to the topic.Well, it’s already late…lol
Our album this time is a work we are proud of, with songs created using all of our activities and experiences up until now.
I think we were able to express the new us in addition to the old us.
There are new sounds, themes that could only be written now, songs that we wrote with a slightly nostalgic feeling that goes back to the past, and songs that we wrote while thinking about what everyone wants from Sukima Switch today. This is an album that I really want to deliver to a lot of people, a wide range of music fans.

The previous original album was released as a two-disc set, and since it was the 8th and 9th album, this album will be the prestigious 10th album, but it is the 10th album in 21 years since the debut. Is it really a lot or a little?
That said, there’s no change in the fact that I put my heart and soul into each album, and even this time I created it with a CD in mind, the spaces between songs, the order of the songs, and the overall balance. , I assembled it.
However, what’s different from what we’ve done before is that even with this number of songs that we put our heart and soul into and put our hands to the best of our ability, we’re still able to find the melody and arrangement that we wanted to create. Ah, I wanted to use that instrument, or ah, I haven’t made any songs in that genre lately, or ah, I’ve never done this before, but I wanted to try it.
However, since this is an album that will be loved for a long time, the overall balance is important, and more than anything, I had a strong desire to deliver it this summer, and that was my motivation, so I decided to put it together this way.
I feel like this is an album that even I can look forward to, compared to Sukima Switch, which has been around for 20 years.
Unlike in the past, I feel that the difference between “what I want to do”, “what I wish I could do”, and “what I can do” is disappearing.
However, it is difficult for us as individuals to judge whether this is evolution and growth, or relative degeneration and lack of originality.
In the end, I’d like to leave that decision up to the listeners, and I think if the range of songs was expanded, there would be a greater possibility that it would hit people who had never picked up Sukima Switch before. The title of this album is also inspired by such a wide range of possibilities.
The introduction was unusually long, but all I can say is that I was able to create a work that I am proud of.
I sincerely hope that it reaches as many people’s hands and ears as possible.
