Won “Kpop Global Artist” at JO1 “1st KOREA GRAND MUSIC AWARDS”

On November 17th, JO1 presented the world’s K-POP-based music award at the popular music award ceremony “2024 KOREA GRAND MUSIC AWARDS” (hereinafter referred to as KGMA) held at Inspire Arena in Incheon, South Korea. He received the “Kpop Global Artist” award, which is given to overseas artists who are attracting attention.

KGMA will be held for the first time on November 16th and 17th as a new popular music awards ceremony sponsored by Korea’s Nikkan Sports. The award ceremony aimed to provide a new perspective to the Korean popular music world, and awards were given to various K-Pop categories that have been loved by fans both domestically and internationally.

JO1 appeared on the red carpet wearing a chic black suit, showing off their cool visuals, and then reappeared on stage wearing a gorgeous white and gold jacket. They performed a special performance prepared for this day.

“WHERE DO WE GO (Korean ver.)” began with a jazz arrangement intro, and the members, who received an invitation to KGMA, created a confident song concept that led to a dance block with acting. A dignified performance. Backup dancers also appeared, and the dance break divided into two units led to “Love Seeker (Korean ver.),” and the tension in the venue quickly rose with the members’ encouragement.

After getting off the impressive stage and moving to the center stage, which was built at the same height as the audience, they performed the last block amidst a rising pillar of fire. Loud cheers erupted from the surrounding audience.

JO1 also won the Kpop Global Artist award, which is given to overseas artists who are attracting attention around the world based on K-pop. Leader Yonashiro Sho expressed his joy in English, saying, “Thank you to everyone at JAM (fan name) for always supporting us. I am very happy to receive such a special award.” , Tsurubo Shio-on said in Korean, “I’m very honored. Thank you. I hope you will continue to support our activities.” The audience also praised JO1’s award with loud cheers.

This is the fourth Korean music award of 2024 for JO1 at this KGMA, marking a year in which their success has been praised not only in Japan but also around the world.

JO1 will start their first solo live tour of 2024, “JO1DER SHOW 2024 ‘WHEREVER WE ARE'”, from November 23rd. In December, they will celebrate their 5th anniversary.
