The eighth episode, “Sacrifice,” of the Yomiuri TV/Nippon TV platinum night Thursday drama “Promise: The Truth of the 16th Year” (every Thursday from 11:59pm), starring Anne Nakamura and featuring Yokoyama Yu (SUPER EIGHT), will be broadcast on May 30th.

This series has become a hot topic on social media, with people saying they can’t take their eyes off the fast-paced plot as new truths are revealed in each episode and one mystery after another unfolds.

The total number of views on TVer has exceeded 8 million. It has achieved the feat of being ranked in the top three for three consecutive weeks in the overall rankings.

In the 7th episode “Confession” that aired on May 30th, a new secret that Amakusa (Yuki Morinaga) had been hiding was revealed. The story took a sudden turn as it was connected to the past of Kosaka (Yu Yokoyama) that was revealed.

Then, in episode 8, “Sacrifice,” which will air on May 30th, the truth about the past that Kosaka is risking everything to pursue will finally be revealed.

Aoi (Anne Nakamura) leaves coded messages at the crime scenes and uses herself as a decoy to lure out the serial killer. What is the truth that will be revealed after each sacrifice? One by one, the truth is revealed, and the story finally reaches the core of the case.

■ Episode 8 Synopsis
Aoi (Nakamura Anne) witnesses Kosaka (Yokoyama Yuu) cornering Amakusa (Morinaga Yuki).

Amakusa says that it was not him who killed Kosaka’s junior detective Aso (Toranosuke Kobayashi), but rather a senior member of a specialized fraud group who had said he had “killed a detective.”

Aoi is worried that Kosaka will pursue the murderer of Asou alone, so she assigns Natsume (Higuchi Kohei) to watch over Kosaka. Kosaka has decided to pursue the truth of Asou’s death with all his might.

Aoi leaves a coded message for the culprit at the scene of the serial murders. Aoi intends to use herself as bait to lure out the culprit.

Using information from Amakusa, Kosaka captures Sakai, a member of a special fraud group. Sakai says that he only heard a rumor that a man calling himself “Hulk” had said that he had “killed a detective.”

Meanwhile, Fuwa (Hosoda Yoshihiko) visits Ide (Mori Yusaku), a classmate who was a member of the high school cultural festival executive committee and is the owner of a general store.

Aoi heads to the scene of the crime and finds that the message she left is gone. As she leaves the scene, someone is following her…
