From the movie “35 Years of Love Letter” (to be released on March 7, 2025), the commemorative visual for “Good Couple Day” has been released.
The long-awaited film adaptation of the true story of a couple that was introduced in the Asahi Shimbun in 2003, picked up on TV and magazines, and even became an original rakugo story that moved many people. The main character Tamotsu Nishihata is played by Tsurube Shofukutei, his wife Akiko is played by Tomoyo Harada, and the Nishihata couple’s younger days are played by Daiki Shigeoka (WEST.) and Mone Kamishiraishi.
Tamotsu Nishihata (Tsurube Shofukutei) was born during the war and did not receive a sufficient education and grew up unable to read or write. Tamotsu begins attending night junior high school in order to express his gratitude to his beloved wife, Kyoko (pronounced: Kyoko/Tomoyo Harada), who has continued to support him, in a letter he wrote himself.
This is a heartwarming and moving true story of a husband who learns to write from scratch and struggles to write love letters to his wife, and his wife who has supported him for many years.
The visual released to commemorate “Good Couple Day” on November 22nd is sure to bring a smile to your face due to the friendly atmosphere between Mr. and Mrs. Nishihata.
At the top of the visual, Tamotsu (Shofutei Tsurube)’s wife, Eiko (Harada Tomoyo), gently places her hand on his shoulder and looks out with a happy expression on her face. The couple, who have been married for 35 years, smile somewhat shyly, and you can feel the bond that the couple has had over many years of supporting each other.
In the lower part of the visual, his wife Eiko (Mone Kamishiraishi) is seen hugging a young Shiyasu (Daiki Shigeoka) from behind, and she is filled with anticipation for the days they will spend together. It shows the freshness of a newlywed.
The image of Mr. and Mrs. Nishihata, who are still as close as ever even after 35 years, has become an adorable visual reminiscent of their happily married life.
