On May 29th, JO1 held a live broadcast to commemorate the release of their 8th single “HITCHHIKER.”
The first part of the event was a live simultaneous broadcast on YouTube, LINE VOOM, Instagram, and TikTok, where they gave a thorough introduction to “HITCHHIKER.” In addition, they announced that the single has topped the Oricon Daily Single Rankings for the eighth time in a row since their debut single.
This work recorded sales of 416,000 copies, the highest ever, on the Oricon Daily Single Ranking dated May 28. Upon seeing the results, the members were overjoyed and applauded, saying, “We’ve had eight consecutive No. 1 releases, thank you so much, everyone!”
Following the successful release, Kawanishi Takumi commented, “I’m really happy to think that this time, our love has reached everyone through various activities such as music programs,” Kawashiri Ren said, “Eight consecutive No. 1 releases is no ordinary feat. I can feel that all of our JAMs (their fans) are sending us so much support and love. We would like to give back to JAMs,” and Kono Junki commented, “Thank you again for the No. 1 ranking! I hope we can continue to walk together on JO1’s continuing journey.”
In addition, it was announced that the “JAM Thanksgiving” will be held on July 27th and 28th.
The second part of the event was a live broadcast exclusively on LINE VOOM. In addition to answering questions from JAM, each member chose one song that they would like to listen to while driving and created a special playlist, creating a lively atmosphere.
In addition, the group’s youngest member, Mamehara Issei, celebrated his 22nd birthday on May 30th with a “dumbbell cake” to represent his hobby of muscle training. He expressed his aspirations, saying, “We will continue to work hard together to aim to be number one, so please continue to support us!”
The music video for the title track “Love seeker,” which was released in advance, has been viewed over 11.6 million times. It has been on YouTube’s trending music rankings for over two weeks, and has attracted many comments from people of all ages and genders, both from Japan and overseas, and is a hot topic. JO1 has been in Korea for a week since last week, and appeared on six music shows, which is unusual for an artist who has not yet debuted in Korea. After a hectic schedule, they returned to Korea on May 29th. They performed “Love seeker” on 14 shows in Japan and Korea, creating a “Love seeker” whirlwind.
