Yorushika releases special MV for the Yokohama Ryusei starring movie “Satai” x newly written theme song “Taiyo”

■“Taiyo” MV begins with the scene in which death row inmate Kaburagi, played by Ryusei Yokohama, escapes from prison.

A special video for the movie “True Body”, which will be released on November 29th, and the theme song “Taiyo” written by Yorushika have been released.

“True Body” is a suspense entertainment movie based on the novel of the same name by Tameto Somei. Keiichi Kaburagi escaped after being sentenced to death for a murder. The story depicts how Matanuki, a detective who pursues him, encounters a new image of a person who seems to be a completely different person through interrogation with the people he met at Kaburagi’s escape destination. The director is Michito Fujii, who directed “10 Years to Live” and “Seishun 18 x 2: The Road to You.” Ryusei Yokohama plays Kaburagi, Riho Yoshioka plays Sayaka, Shintaro Morimoto plays Kazuya, Anna Yamada plays Mai, and Takayuki Yamada plays Matatsuki.

A special MV for Yorushika’s theme song “Taiyo” that uses plenty of footage from the movie “Satai”.

The music video, which begins with the scene in which death row inmate Kaburagi escapes from prison, condenses one aspect of the work, which Yokohama describes as an “emotional human drama.”

Yokohama, who says he “shoots one scene, one cut, without compromise,” shows off his full-fledged performance as a lonely fugitive with five faces, always “living (the role)” rather than “acting”. As is typical of Yokohama, it can be seen that not only the small details such as posture, gestures, tone of voice, and line of sight have completely changed, but also the atmosphere that they wear.

In the second half of the video, Kaburagi, played by Yokohama, is wanted as a violent fugitive and meets Sayaka (Riho Yoshioka), Kazuya (Shintaro Morimoto), and Mai (Anna Yamada), who believe in him. As he goes, he begins to show an expression that gives him a moment of peace. However, the investigation network, including the detective Matatsuki (Takayuki Yamada) who is pursuing Kaburagi, gradually begins to close in on him.

The theme song “Taiyo” written by Yorushika for this work was created as if to gently snuggle up to Kaburagi. With the sun as a motif, the literary lyrics and clear singing voice, which are written to liken the sunlight to the wings of a butterfly, quietly question the message of the work in the hearts of those who have finished watching it, and are a perfect example of director Fujii’s work. The result is a “hymn” that embodies the request.

Ryusei Yokohama and director Fujii talked about which artist they would like to sing the theme song for during the filming, and Yorushika, who had always wanted to, agreed to do the theme song. Yokohama commented, “I’m really grateful to Yorushika-san for taking on the role and for creating and singing a song that is so wonderful and perfect for this work.”

At the end of the video, Kaburagi is shown desperately running away. What is his purpose as he continues to run away even though his face changes? Let’s look forward to the movie’s release on November 29th.
