JO1 has released the music video for “Melak” (pronounced: Melak), the fifth installment of the members’ self-project “PLANJ” on their official YouTube channel.
This song is an original song written and composed by Yoshio Ohira while thinking about JAM (fan name) (composed in collaboration with music producer Hiromu). The short version released the other day has been viewed over 590,000 times, and the release of the full version has been eagerly awaited.
The video production for the music video started with Ohira’s request, “I want JAM to see the process of creating the song.” The video shows Ohira writing down his feelings in the lyrics and thinking about the melody. Ohira also produced the shooting and editing angles, situations, cuts, and how to apply effects to the video.
You can see everyday scenes that you don’t usually get to see, such as a melodious piano performance scene and a scene where he drinks coffee to overcome his dislike of coffee.
“PLANJ” aims to improve the skills of individual members and give back to the group, and freely expresses and transmits the individuality of the group and members, not just music.
In the first part, Shō Yonashiro sings Elton John’s “Your Song,” in the second part Junki Kono sings CNBLUE’s “Love Light,” and in the third part Shio Tsurubusa sings back number “Saito Koen.” cover. In the fourth installment, Ruki Shiraiwa performs her self-produced song “Himawari” for the first time.
■Yoshio Ohira comment
The title “Melak”, including the spelling, is a coined word, and it has the meaning of “This day, this moment spent with you. Even the smallest things are important and treasured.” When creating this song, I first started working on it with the idea of creating the ultimate POP classic love song that anyone who listens to it would love. I believe that the lyrics in the chorus, “This season when I met you, will shine brightly and take on new colors,” are words that not only have romantic elements, but also change color depending on how the listener perceives them. This is a work created with attention to detail! I would be happy if you could listen to it a lot! thank you as always!
