“(LOVE SONG)”, an original Japanese-Thailand co-production movie set in Tokyo and Bangkok, starring Win Morisaki and Koji Mukai (Snow Man), will be released in theaters in the fall of 2025.

This work is a Japan-Thailand co-production directed by Weerachit Thongjira, the man behind the drama “2gether,” which was viewed for free on YouTube and which led to the global BL boom. An original love story. Starring Win Morisaki and Koji Mukai, both of whom have roots in Southeast Asia, the film is set in Tokyo and Bangkok, and depicts in a warm and humorous way the process by which these two reunite in a foreign land and gradually begin to connect with each other.

■An original pure love story full of sadness and excitement, where an unfinished love song connects two people set in Tokyo and Bangkok.
Souta (Win Morisaki), a researcher who is suddenly ordered to work overseas from Tokyo, reunites with Kai (Koji Mukai), who he had a crush on during his student days in Bangkok. Souta is moved by the sight of Kai, who is active as a photographer and musician in Thailand. Kai, on the other hand, can’t hide his surprise when Souta remembers the “unfinished song” he sang when he was a student. Before they know it, the song that connects them begins to resound deep within their hearts.

The role of Sota will be played by Win Morisaki, a talented actor who made his Hollywood debut in Steven Spielberg’s film “Ready Player One” (2018) and is active globally in dramas and movies. He has a wide range of talents, and his short film “Sen” won the Grand Prix George Lucas Award at “Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2024”. performed delicately and realistically.

Kai is a member of Snow Man, and in addition to his music activities, he is also widely active as a talent and actor. Koji Mukai, who is popular as the new hero Massaman in “Pokkiri GP” and has roots in Thailand. Mukai, who will be starring in a movie for the first time, takes on the role of a mysterious and somewhat shadowy character that overturns his previous image.

Director Weerachit Tonjira, who has produced numerous BL hits and is currently attracting a lot of attention worldwide, will be making his first original feature film and Japanese film debut, saying, “Souta played by Win Morisaki… Straight His acting has created a character that is loved by everyone. On the other hand, Kai, played by Koji Mukai, is a character who has both a passion for music and sensitivity. Mukai’s sincere acting highlights Kai’s deep love. He praised the cast.

KADOKAWA also said, “It’s an unfinished love song that connects Souta and Kai, something that can be understood even if it can’t be conveyed in words.I believe that the sad singing voice will surely link to the “feelings of longing for someone” in the hearts of the viewers.” Producer Ryoko Nozoe also expressed her high expectations for this work, which the cast and staff worked together to tackle.

How does an original story that transcends cultural and language barriers move the hearts of viewers? Be sure to watch the two at the theater as they struggle together despite their clumsiness.

■Story
Souta (Win Morisaki) is an overly serious researcher who is suddenly ordered to work overseas from Tokyo.
On the day he landed in Bangkok, he reunited with Kai (Koji Mukai), whom he had secretly had feelings for since his student days.
Souta’s heart is stirred by the sight of Kai, who is active as a photographer in Thailand and has been active in music since his university days. Kai, on the other hand, couldn’t hide his surprise that Souta still remembered the “unfinished song” he sang during his school days.
The distance between them gradually narrows, but the reason why they can’t complete the song continues to be hidden in their hearts…
The song that connects the two of us begins to echo deep within our hearts again!

■Win Morisaki (Souta) Comment
When I was offered the role of Souta, I was a little nervous as the character was the complete opposite of me, but I was prepared to put my money into this work. I believed that this work would definitely change my life. However, as I was working on the script, my anxiety grew, but when I read the book with Mukai-kun for costume fitting, I heard his voice as Kai, and my anxiety instantly disappeared. I heard from the director that Souta’s personality is “serious and methodical,” but the moment he met Kai, you could see his slightly clumsy side and his imperfections, and it was fascinating. I am convinced that Kai, with his freedom and flexibility, is the final key to expanding Souta’s life. The Thai team, including the director, seemed to be having fun filming, which was impressive. There were some cultural and language barriers with the Japanese team, but there were many moments where we were able to overcome them without giving in and become one, and I think these are etched into the movie as good scenes. I’m really looking forward to seeing it completed!

■Snow Man Koji Mukai (Kai) Comment
It’s a big deal for me to be able to work in Thailand, so I was very happy when I was approached. I was nervous and under pressure, but more than that, I was having fun.
Kai, the character I played, is artistic, clumsy, and unable to be honest, but he is a character who is clear about what he wants to do. She also has a slightly selfish side to Souta, saying, “I want to say something, but I won’t.”
It was because of Souta’s pure and straightforward personality that I was able to be myself as Kai naturally, so I’m really grateful.
The director loved Japan and was a loving person who was grinning at the monitor while filming.
I was confused at first by the different shooting styles, but I feel like I was able to take some great images in the end.
He also tries his hand at speaking in Thai, and there are many facial expressions that Koji Mukai, the usual Snow Man, would not be able to show.
I would be happy if this movie becomes a masterpiece that can be proudly listed on one’s profile, and if many people can relate to it.

■Director: Weerachit Thongjira Comments
“(LOVE SONG)” is the first movie that I took a long time to make. This work, which was created with love and care while learning about the differences between the cultures of Japan and Thailand, has become a romantic story filled with the charm of pure romance and love songs that will bring happiness to the viewers. I hope everyone can watch it while feeling the feeling of loving someone and being loved by someone. I believe that those who watch this work for the first time will be able to experience a special impression.
Souta, played by Win Morisaki, has become a character loved by everyone with his honest acting. On the other hand, Kai, played by Koji Mukai, is a character who has both a passion for music and sensitivity. Mukai’s sincere acting highlights Kai’s deep love. You can feel the real breath in the acting of these two, and I feel that this story has become even more brilliant. As a director, I was able to work with them to explore the worldview of the work and the true meaning of the song, and to experience its depth.
I hope that everyone can experience the same excitement through this movie!

■Producer: Ryoko Nozoe (KADOKAWA) Comment
September of this year was an intense month of filming. I am ashamed to say that I was not fully prepared for my trip to Thailand. There were so many things that went wrong while filming in an unknown country, but the smiles and hospitality of the Thai team, including Champ (the director’s nickname), and the mutual help of the Japanese team helped maintain peace among the crew. I am grateful for that.
Whether or not everyone in Thailand and Japan was able to work with smiles was a barometer for both of us. Win Morisaki’s big laugh and Koji Mukai’s cheerfulness, always trying to keep everyone entertained, filled the scene with a bright and positive atmosphere. I think that Mr. Morisaki, who is from Myanmar, and Mr. Mukai, who has mixed roots in Thailand, were the two who were good at communicating with people who spoke different languages.
While on set, Mr. Morisaki is relatively quiet and reflects on his role, while Mr. Mukai, perhaps trying to hide his shyness (?), keeps making the staff around him laugh.
Even if you watch it thinking that it is a contrast to the role, once the actual performance begins, the delicate exchanges begin. While we were preparing for our first role, Morisaki-san and Mukai-san rehearsed together, discussing how to phrase the lines naturally, and Mukai-san, who also provided an interpreter, made suggestions to the director. There were many such situations. I would like you to pay attention to the fact that in scenes where the two of them are alone, their facial expressions and way of speaking are slightly different from scenes with other cast members.
Also, look forward to the common language and music scene between Thailand and Japan! An unfinished love song that connects Souta and Kai, something that can be understood even if it cannot be conveyed in words. I believe that the sad singing voice will surely link to the “feelings of longing for someone” in the hearts of the viewers.
