■“I’m happy that someone who was a child has grown up and is participating again.” (Shingo Katori)
The “All Japan Costume Awards” started in 1979 and is now in its 46th year. It has been decided that the memorable 100th tournament will be broadcast from 7:00 PM on January 13, 2025.
This time, 34 contestants between the ages of 1 and 75, who made it through the preliminary round out of a total of 3,580 applicants, will put their ideas to use and work hard to create a piece from scratch.
And to commemorate the 100th edition, there will also be a “special project” in which past legendary works will be revived.
Out of 4,137 works over 46 years (total of 18,371 participants), the “BEST 30 masterpieces chosen by costume contestants” will be announced.
It will be a 3-hour special, which is longer than usual, and will be filled with laughter and excitement. It’s about a month until the broadcast, so let’s look forward to it.

I’m so happy to be able to see the work that I practiced so much.■Shingo Katori comment
I’ve been sidelined for over 20 years now, and I’m happy to see people who were kids grow up and come back to compete.
All contestants are the stars!
